My true outlook for game vs Bama

Agree with you guys on Bama LB's- they have gotten weaker and weaker in performance as the season has gone on mainly in tackling and filling holes. The one thing they do better than any Bama LB's of the past is Pass Defense- both insiders run very, very well 4.5's in 230's. Never had as fast as LB's but they are not Hitters and tackling is suspect- much the same I hear on OU's defense.
Bama Thuds more than anybody- well there is a difference in tackling to the ground and thud??

But they will do well against a heavy passing team like OU- watch and see, these guys can INT well.
If your backs were big and powerful like UGA's and can break past the DL's then you could really hurt Bama in center of the field. But I don't think you are built for that!!
But their quickness and QB quickness might be a problem if they can break containment.
I think you will only see one LB for most of the game and 6 or even 7 DB's from Bama. Our fastest players will be on the field most of it I feel. Bama has done this a lot with passing teams.

Ought to be a great matchup - our DL and OU OL's.

Bama fans do highly respect OU- consider them similar to us in a lot of ways. I think it is going to be a great game. Wished you could play this Bama team coming out of offseason in September. We always wear down and get much weaker in November and Dec. but sometimes we rebuild for the New Years game well gaining back near Sept levels physically. We shall see what teams show up? I hope both QB's are 100% too.

Heavy pass? This right there tells me that you know nothing about our offense so this begs the the question - have you even watched any OU games this year?

OU offense on the season is 58% run 42% pass and if you dont believe that go look it up. This is what gets me about Bama fans as everyone seems to think we are pass heavy. Hope Saben believes that also because our RBs will have a field day.

BTW Ill save you the time looking it up

OU averages 37 runs per game and only 28 passes per game.

When fans in other conferences state opinions about a non-conference opponent it's usually a reflection of the perceived style of play of that conference. They think we are NHHU. They think we throw every down and only run to keep things honest. They think we have never been challenged because all our opponents play weak D. There are misconceptions about all conferences including the SEC.

Agree now with your comments after today more analysis- OU does run the ball a lot and much better mix than I would have guessed before studying. However, imo they do not have the kinds of backs that give BAMA problems the whole game, especially late- 225+ guys who run very, very hard such as the UGA Backs do trouble us. Smaller backs almost never give Bama trouble- we shall see.
Today I did notice a LOT OF GAME SCORES for OU very, very close even by 500 teams. I might be surprised but Bama is a lot better than those teams. OU does seem to have gotten better as the season has gone on and Bama not so much. OU's backs are quick but normally that is not a major problem for Bama who is well schooled and watch how they tighten the screws down in adjustments after a few looks at the offense- much better in the 2nd half on D nearly always!

This is going to be a game imo of Bama Pounding OU D with running game- big backs and some passing to keep OU honest and backed off a bit to help that secondary and OU's effectiveness in Pass and Kyler running. Bama has 4 very good wr's and a TE that might be the highest rated one in the Draft- very good #82. If OU cannot stop the run the whole game will turn on that with limited possessions. If they can, let's see Tua vs Kyler in the passing game decide it? Kyler's quickness is everything for OU and Bama has faced nobody near as quick. It will take team D swarming him. It might get treacherous though if he runs continuously?

Regardless of Alabama's alleged superiority, it is crucial that Oklahoma shows up and plays well and plays tough.
Given Riley's aptitude as a coach, there is no excuse for OU to "lay an egg" in this game.
It's a new era in Oklahoma football. It's time to restore this program's postseason reputation.

I want an OU victory but if we lose, I don't want to look back and feel like we should have won. If we play with great effort and smart, I'll be happy. I like our chances. BOOMER!

What's up fellows!

I am looking forward to seeing Bama match-up with OU. This is an intriguing match-up because of your QB athleticism. Bama must be discipline with their gaps and containment and not let Murray outside of the pocket. Though #92 Q Williams is one of, if not the most disruptive DTs in college football- he demands a double team, though they has not been able to stop him at times. I noticed a post about C. Miller. He's more athletic than what he appear to be. He and Jennings can get after it!

Bama's LBs will be tested. They are not the inside backers of years past. Too often they are caught up in traffic when they should be playing outside contain or should play inside. This is fixable but will they show the improvement Saturday?

Tua is 80-85% which i believe is "smoke". I believe the plan is to make OU prepare for he and Jalen. There is a video of him moving very well. He likely starts Saturday. OU's struggle to stop the pass is where the problems lies. He and the receivers played a game to forget against GA (Tua held the ball too long at times and there was a lot of dropped balls) and i think they are looking forward to proving that they are one of the best units in the nation (It's hard to argue this).

OU offensive attack will stretch Bama like no other team has. Will Bama D live up to the billing or go in too confident and get torched? In years past teams that have beaten Bama had memorable QB performances. It will take that for the Sooners to win.

God Bless.

Well, for some reason my Alabama friends have suddenly begun to have more confidence. Normally they leave themselves wiggle room so I’m wondering if Bama#15 is right about Tua.

I never read or heard any Alabama coach or player make excuses for losing to OU....only the media did as far as I have heard.

I doubt that you will either. It’s implied... much like assuming Saban is attempting to avenge his last beat down by OU.

Hopefully, OU has the ability to utilize Brooks (205 LBS) and Pledger (200 LBS), along with Sermon in the first half, get in control of the game and put a heavy dose of Sermon on Bama to close out the game.

Lol another Bama “Sooner expert” spouting out garbage about an offense that is much more complex than this nimrod realizes. Sermon a very powerful back that can create his own holes or run over people. Brooks a straight up n down runner with very deceptive speed like a Sonny Michel. Pledger who is more than capable of breaking a big run. All these guys were behind Rodney Anderson who had crazy talent. We averaged 300 yards rushing down the stretch with backups. Your belief holds water like a sinkhole.

OU has the best group of Wide Receivers in the nation
OU's D is playing much better with intensity
OU's kicking game is solid.
OU has two excellent RBs
OU has the best offensive head coach in the nation.

BOOMER SOONER!!

My pick is 45-38 Sooners...holding fast to it.

Bookies are nearly always close in their picks and because so many games with mediocre teams were so close in score with OU in 2018 I am picking BAMA 45-48 OU 28. I do believe Bama's defense will make adjustments and hold OU to half or less of their scoring in the 1st half in the 2nd half. It is two days out so this is how I feel right now but if I decide to change it some I will edit this post. Let's come back and look after the game to discuss it. Ought to be an exciting game!

I'm thinking Saban wants a win moreso than the 'avenge' factor.

I believe Saban wants to win for one reason and one reason only, if he wins it all this year that ties him with Bear Bryant for most National Titles as an Alabama Coach at 6 and would cement his name right up there with Bryants as one of the best College Football Coaches in History.
I just don't think he has Revenge on his mind about the 2014 Sugar Bowl, all that cost him was a loss in a Bowl Game not a Natty, Auburn did that to his team. I also believe those 2 losses motivated him more than ever.

I am tired of waiting, where the heck are you Sat nite? Been an eternity!
Lets get it on!

Do you remember 2014 Sugar Bowl OU vs. bama with McCarron at QB.
Bama was a 17 point favorite and OU WINS by 14.

On any given day, any team can beat any other team. When you're the underdog, it takes a perfect game plan executed perfectly. In this case, it will also require some mistakes by Alabama along with all the Sooner magic we can find. I still believe in magic!

One thing that can't be debated: if Oklahoma wins it will be the greatest bowl win in Sooners' history, trumping the the 7-0 win over undefeated Maryland in the 1954 Orange Bowl and the 13-2 2001 Orange Bowl win over Florida State...and of course, this will have to be followed up by another challenge against either Clemson or Notre Dame.
The 1986 Orange Bowl win (26-10 over Penn State) was a great win, but OU was favored in that game and was an underdog vs Maryland and FSU.
There obviously have been many great wins by OU in bowl games, but in keeping with the millennials' mindset, they were "meaningless" because of the lack of championship ramifications.

The Georgia game exposes the Bama defense....if playing Tua this game plays like OU versus WVU....if playing Hurts this game plays like OU versus TexASS......

Bamas schedule did not prepare them for being in tight game going back and forth and coming down to the end of the game.....Sooners win by 3

Outside of GA...what consistently high flying offense have the Tide faced? I would not put aTm or Mizzpoo in that realm. They will be stretched to their limits with plays that WILL work on their LB’s and DB’s. Their DL will be the Sooners stumbling block. They give Murray and running game openings, and the Sooners could conceivably hang half a hundred on them.

Correct and I was about to point that out to him. I think BP is trying to come off as wanting to discuss the game but ultimately he is also trying to put our team down as if they dont belong on the same field as Bama. He certainly has shown he isnt very knowledgable about our Sooners.

I have already stated in another thread I think Bama wins because of the two defenses but I do believe in LR and our team and I will be smiling ear to ear if our team pulls off the upset.

How much gas remains in the tank for Bama's big strong front 7 after chasing Kyler&Co. For 3 quarters?

A fun one - The media has been talking about OU's hurry-up offense incessantly, but the Sooners haven't truly been a hurry-up team since 2016...

And we are supposed to believe their prognostications? Not me.

Well, guys its over and only 11 points win though Bama was at the goal line without much resistance left so another 7 and it would have been 18 right at where I picked it 45-28.
It was a great Headknocking kind of game. Hope QB for Clemson is a better target for Bama's rush cause Kyler is a hard target. Really enjoyed chatting with you OU fans. Not disappointed in the game both teams played hard. You see tonight why I commented that MLB's are Bama's weakest link on D- got into almost no plays tonight except a penalty pushing an OL helmet off. Should have played DB's in their spots 2nd half imo but I am not football coach? Hard hitting game so both teams and fans should be proud of their performances.. Onto Clemson? Who do you think wins that game- only 7 point spread early.

Hard to pick against Bama......but if anyone can beat you guys then its Clemson. They were very impressive today in holding ND to 3 points. Should be a great game. Will be interesting to see how their freshman QB holds up with a heavy rush on him
