Mizzou Prediction

The whole staff needs to be cut loose. Good luck finding a giod OC that wants to come here now, not with Brents seat red hot. I expect a lot of players to hit the Portal and maybe thats a good thing because whoever is evaluating the talent for recruiting is doing a terrible job. JA ia the worst 5 star QB I have ever seen. Maybe not all his fault because BFV didn't hire a frickin QB Coach. That reason alone is why BV should be shown the door.
I am not pissed we lost, we all knew we would find a way to, its how we keep losing, stupid mistakes game after game that never seem to be corrected. Thats players and coaches doing dumb shit over and over again. This was game 10 not game 3.

He's definitely got his work cut out for him. Here are the winning percentages of all OU coaches in the modern era who coached at least two seasons:

Lincoln Riley .846
Barry Switzer .837
Bud Wilkinson .826
Bob Stoops .798
Chuck Fairbanks .728
Jim Tatum .727
Gary Gibbs .652
Brent Venables .583
Gomer Jones .452
John Blake .353
Excuses aside because of injuries, 2 losing seasons over 3 years should never be accepted at OU. OU is actually 2 plays away from being a 3 win team. ( Aub the OU pick 6 and the atrocious phantom touched punt return vs Houston).

Defensively the stats say they are among the top in the SEC but in actuality they have failed in crucial situations mostly due to the secondary being average at best.

Tonight they just flat out choked. JA best attribute offensively is his legs but he has proven to be a turnover machine going back to the Arizona bowl game last year.

The former OU grad that is a host on SEC now said on air “ He should have just kneeled it and played for OT”. You could see the frustration on his face seeing his alma mater lose like this.

OU's defense is definitely improved this year, but coming into this game they were 8th (out of 16 teams) in the SEC in total defense, behind Texas, Tennessee, Georgia, Missouri, South Carolina, Auburn and Ole Miss.

Improved yes but far from elite/great that many claim it is. Against the quality teams they fail to deliver when needed.

I want to know who thought it was a good idea to involve Sharp so much in the offense. They want to throw a bubble screen to him and expect him to make people miss? I dont get it

Listened to the BV postgame.
Paraphrasing here but it went like, blah blah blah blah, you know blah blah blah, um blah blah blah um gotta get better blah blah blah.
He will take responsibility and say they have to do a better job putting the players in position to be successful....we have heard it all before. The only thing they better figure out at this point is how we are going to keep Bama under 50.

And how we are even going to score.

Given that our quarterback has passed for less than 1300 yards and can’t seem to hold onto the football, it’s going to be a problem. Arnold’s QBR rating is an embarrassing 42.3 and he is currently 103rd at his position. Not very impressive for a 5 star recruit. He doesn’t have much help however the fumbles can’t be blamed on his teammates. For his own peace of mind he should consider transferring and getting a fresh start.

His 5* rating looks like it was overrated when he was surrounded by talent and playing against overmatched high school competition. So far, he looks like a less talented version of Rhett Bomar, with absolutely zero situational awareness on the field.

Definitely less talented than Bomar but he appears to be a much better person. I think Jackson’s a good kid. You pretty much described what I’ve thought for a while with regard to him being overrated as a recruit. Hell, it’s happened many, many times over the years. If we all thought about it, we could come up with quite a long list.

He better be thanking his lucky stars that all the hype got him thousands of NIL dollars without proving a darn thing on the field.

I’m so happy I’ve been out of town since last Thursday with no phone, internet, or tv services. It’s my opinion that we brought back the wrong quarterback. We should have kept Hawkins in and got some good experience in with the rest of this season. It’s inevitable JA will transfer, and probably more key recruits. At least he seems to have the heart and the determination to fight.. .oh well

No quarterback could operate well with this terrible offensive line.
Maybe Arnold isn't OU's best option, but that's not the main issue with the offense.
Try acknowledging the fact that 5 receivers have been injured for most of the year and the offensive line is so poor that either QB is getting pressure every play while the backup receivers have problems getting open.
i think building a good offensive line and a having a healthy WR corps are at least as important as finding an offensive coordinator.

I’ve acknowledged the same. It doesn’t change the fact that there are better possible options on the bench than what continues to get shuffled on the field. The evaluation of the talent available is a real problem and unexplainable

Notice that our loaded schedule included six of the seven ahead of us on the schedule. A beat up offensive line and worse at wide, set us up for failure against that.

The perfect storm for failure: tough schedule, beat up offensive line and receiving corps and a flawed offensive coordinator….with a 5-star QB who has yet to come of age.
