There is a lot of talk in Houston about Riley. Not sure if he'll get an offer or would accept an offer. But I do think we saw his last game as the OU OC. He'll be snatched up.

Wherever he goes eventually, I just hope it's better than the North Texas gig he considered last year. He shouldn't settle. Cincinnati or Indiana may be solid opportunities, but the biggest knock on him for good HC jobs is still that he's only been a Coordinator at a P5 school for 2 seasons.

He was OC of the year last year. He'll be getting a few considerations.

I just hope it's a few good considerations. Mark Mangino and Kevin Wilson were also Broyles Award winners (outstanding assistant coach in the country), and both were far more experienced than Riley, and they landed at Kansas and Indiana.

I've always been disappointed by the level of HC positions our assistants have left for. Though I was more than fine seeing Mangino and Long leave. i actually still thought Wilson was doing a good job.

Don't get me wrong, I think incredibly highly of Riley and want nothing but tremendous success for him as a HC... I just hope he's 35+ when he becomes one :)

Also talk of Lane Kiffin possibly at Houston as a HC or possibly OC at LSU. I honestly don't see Kiffin leaving bama for anything other than a HC position unless he is just tired of Saban's butt chewings.

I figured Orlando was going to get the job, though if that were the case, I suspect he'd already have been named. The latest name to pop up was Kiffin, which would be interesting. Which is a better job? OC at a revived LSU? Or HC at UHouston?

You might be right that Riley has some job waiting for him, but I don't think Houston is a good fit for him He hasn't recruited Texas much. He has four outstanding quarterbacks for next season. But the rest of the cupboard might not be so full.

And the hug and what looked like a kiss on the neck, he gave Baker yesterday, had the look of a goodbye greeting. I just don't think it will be UHouston. But I've been wrong before. I'd think they'd want somebody with some serious ties in southeast Texas. We'll see. But if they offer it to Riley, it would be pretty likely he'd take it. Pretty good opportunity.

I think Kiffin gets it if he wants it. I just don't see Les in Houston but you never know.
Wouldn't surprise me. When Saban was asked about members of his staff and job openings, he mentioned about Kiffin and how he wanted to be a head coach again. Saban clearly steered the direction towards Kiffin and head coaching jobs, so I don't see Kiffin leaving for another OC job.
His current gig is a perfect jumping off spot to a head coaching gig. So Houston could be in the mix since I don't see Kiffin getting another shot at a bigtime program after how his stints worked out at Tennessee and USC. I think Kiffin will have to prove himself at a lower tier program first and work his way back up to another shot at a blue blood program.

Kiffin may very well take the Houston job if offered, and do a good job there, which would be his first successful head coach gig. Does he have Texas ties? He has the look and personality of a preppie to me. Again, maybe he does well, but I personally think he may be one of those guys that is a fantastic OC and a not so good head coach type.
