Eddie and I were able to go and shoot photo/video of first 15 minutes of OU's practice this afternoon at Barry University.

Jordan Phillips and Kenny Stills were both at practice hanging out. Jordan Phillips obviously knows a lot more guys on the team as he played more recently. After the team broke huddle about half of the defensive line ran by and started jumping on him and around him.

Bob Stoops came over and gave him a big handshake and a slap on the back.

* Noticed Sooners were working the mesh point really hard with Perine, Mixon and Mayfield while the other QBs were throwing passes to receivers. Not saying that was strange or uncommon, but shows they are really working hard on ball security for zone read plays.

* Didn't make my way over to DB and defensive coverages today because I did a lot of that yesterday. Eddie did do more video from over there today. Mike Stoops was out coaching hard today and getting after guys who weren't in the right place at the right time. It's getting closer.

* You could say the same for Bill Bedenbaugh. He was dead serious in practice but you can tell these players take the coaching and don't get upset by it. They want to be coached and they want to get better.

* I didn't notice any key players who were out or limited in the early drills either offensively or defensively. Looks like guys are really healthy going into this week. Hopefully that holds true.

* Just overall, you got a sense of the intensity. During stretching drills the defensive line were singing along to the harder hip hop songs being played. They were ready to get after it today. You could sense just in 15 minutes that this team is really practicing hard.

* I'm going to get to work on stories from today and this morning. Had a good talk with Samaje Perine today about a lot of things, not just football related. I'll try and post the audio file so you can listen. You get a better feel for his personality than you do just reading the quotes.
