NORMAN — The Big 12 Conference announced Monday two television designations and one kickoff time for the University of Oklahoma's 2015 football season.

The Sooners' season opener at home against Akron on Sept. 5 (time TBA) will be televised on a pay-per-view basis by FOX Sports Oklahoma. OU's Sept. 19 home contest versus Tulsa will start at 11 a.m. CT and be televised by FOX Sports 1.

The 2015 opener will mark OU's first-ever meeting on the gridiron against Akron. The Sooners are 2-0 in previous games against Mid-American Conference teams. OU beat Bowling Green 40-24 on Sept. 4, 2004, and handled Ball State 62-6 on Oct. 1, 2011. Both games were played at Gaylord Family — Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.

A list of participating program providers offering the OU-Akron pay-per-view telecast and other details will be announced at a later date.

The Sooners own a 19-7-1 all-time series lead against Tulsa and are 12-3-1 against the Golden Hurricane in Norman. OU posted a 52-7 road victory over TU last season, improving its series record under head coach Bob Stoops to 8-0.

Dates and kickoff times are subject to change as adjustments are possible to accommodate television partners' requests. Fans will be notified via SoonerSports.com and the official @OU_Football Twitter account as information is determined for other contests.
