By his account, the Sooners just haven't played anybody good, therefore we haven't had a chance to build a resume. What's our best win? Iowa State?
Losing to a less than stellar Texas team while giving up 48 points and not yet playing any team of quality, OU is a marginal top ten team in my opinion. His article this morning, "Sooners don't quite crack my top 10" is a perfect example of how much he DOESN'T know about sports...
So Ohio State isn't top ten worthy either. Purdue trounced them.Ohio State losing to Purdue is a worse loss than losing to Texass in my opinion.

He is just trying to generate a buzz for a failing newspaper. It’s almost kind of sad to see when grandpa starts doing strange things so people won’t take his car keys away. His article this morning, "Sooners don't quite crack my top 10" is a perfect example of how much he DOESN'T know about sports...

He no doubt was one of the blowhards talking up the Big10 East division as the best in CFB, and can't back off that opinion even though that division has no out of conf scalps (TCU for tOSU? please) and has to do a circular argument that the Big 10 is itself somehow great as they beat up on each other. Not according to Tramel's logic.

I don't think Tramel is an OU-hater or even that ignorant. The way I've read Tramel for many years is that he considers himself highly intellectual and to be such means to be impartial and decide with facts rather than feelings. He just tries too hard at it, so he frequently downgrades his feelings about OU to a fault so as to not look biased.
He just tries too hard to be smart.
Name one person on the Oklahoman staff that is any good. If Tramel had any talent, he would have bagged a better gig a long time ago.
Just like I try to be as fast as Usain Bolt. It just isn't there.
They have been praising Alabama of late, during halftime of the Pats vs Bills game they had Herbie on talking about the CFP and he said Alabama was up there way above anyone else. Who exactly have they played that puts them at such a lofty level above the others? To date their best win is over the Texas Aggies and the Aggies are not that good.
Its the same every year though, the sec teams move up the polls the most after a few cupcake wins and when they lose they don't fall as much as teams from other conferences.
Its never going to change tho.
Well I've always heaped a ton of praise for the B12... b ut this year... the Big12 seriously sucks. It is what it is. And it aint it this year.
I admit I like Trammel. He seems like a pretty decent guy and he obviously knows sports. I think at times he tries to be controversial so his articles will gain interest. It obviously works since we are on here now talking about it
I hate to break it to you, but by reading his garbage, you’re just helping him to keep a job.
You keep the Digital, royg, because it comes with the bundle. It is free with your subscription to the printed copy. What you may not know, or have forgotten, that bundle also allows you to run one FREE Ad in the Classifieds, each month. I've used that, successfully, many times. He is addicted to his own kool-aid. Like so many in the media he thinks he is smarter than the rest of us. He knows everything and uses the ink to show it. On occasion he will come across with something worth reading. My usual thing is to quickly scan his stuff and then move on. I don't know why we keep the digital subscription as we hardly read it.
There just isn't any sports person at the DO that I like. It is kind of a college sports wasteland. It is way to hard to find something interesting and new.
Tramel has had me rolling my eyes since '99. I was 15. Seriously.
He always feigns impartial judgement until the Sooners start obliterating the eye test then he jumps all over the bandwagon.
By seasons end when we're 12-1 and have pushed the rest of the Big XII's doo doo in, he'll be back on board.
As for reality:
Alabama has faced hardly a breeze of competition.
Clemson's resume is not much better.
Same for ND, Michigan, and Georgia who has looked pedestrian with a bit tougher schedule, but got smothered by LSU.
Speaking of, only the Tigers have am impressive resume and a "quality" loss. (Excuse me while I vomit).
This entire season's games are back loaded. Also, outside of Clemson, Bama, ND kind of, and Oklahoma's offense, nobody has really impressed.
I may regret this because it’s going to make me sound like a jerk, but I can tolerate Tramel’s views more so than the goofy personality he portrays during Lincoln’s presser every week. My wife says I can be a jerk sometimes, so I don’t care. I’ve become comfortable with it.
Since it's still October and OU has yet to play a top notch opponent and laid an egg to a much lesser Texas team due to poor defense, I can understand why Trammel has reservations about OU.....at this time.
I do.
Since when is knowing anything about sports a prerequisite for writing about sports or expressing opinions about sports. We had several people on this board criticizing Lincoln Riley’s playe calling after the TCU game. How much football do they know. The deal is that Trammel actually gets paid for some of his stupidity. His article this morning, "Sooners don't quite crack my top 10" is a perfect example of how much he DOESN'T know about sports...
