Speaking of football injuries/medical precautions, I noticed within the last week; and I can't remember the game, but it was either NFL or NCAA Div1; that a player was wearing one of those big ol' bull rings from his nose in the game. Is that OK these days?
Damn, I was just a swimmer, and officials would freak out if they caught us with an earring or anything. Not even a freaking contact sport.

They wear all kinds of jewelry these days.

That was to protect you from potential lightning strikes that are so common with indoor pools... earrings could serve as a lightning rod, electrifying competitors unfairly...
