A few things here, folks.
First off, if y'all didn't know, now you know: on their network, On3 also syndicates another popular OU site. Our site will remain separate from theirs. At no additional cost, you will have access to the other site's content in addition to ours, but you will only be able to post on the site with which you are specifically subscribed. Some of you are subscribed to both sites and will thus be able to post on both boards.
We went through a similar migration two years ago when we came over to Rivals, concurrent with the other site's departure from Rivals to On3. One of the things we learned in that migration is that at least for a while, there will be some intermingling of the two sites' subscriber bases on the boards. And that has the potential to cause some conflict. We have done our best to cultivate a culture of decorum and camaraderie on our board over the years. As anyone who has experienced both sites knows well, the culture on the other site's board is... a bit different. There's a significant amount of intentional antagonism amongst that contingent. It's a lot more of a locker-room vibe.
There will inevitably be some deliberate attempts to raise some hell on our board by some of their more inflammatory posters. Many of that site's most active members hate me and Drumm; that's kind of an immutable reality of the sites' rivalry. We're prepared to catch a few wayward blows. But when we did the previous migration in May of 2023, a lot of the incendiary posts with which we were greeted wound up spurring days-long battles between our members and theirs. Let's make an effort not to do that this time around. My exhortation to all of you would be to refrain from feeding the trolls; let's take all the bait attempts in stride with a good sense of humor and keep it on the high road. If I've learned anything over the years, it's that when you come down to the trolls' level, they only fight harder.
Let's do all we can as a community to make this as seamless a transition as possible. Nothing should be required of y'all as members; everything should just move over cleanly to the On3 domain by tomorrow. Your same login credentials should work and you'll still land on our page when you type ouinsider.com into your browser window. If you have any questions prior to midnight, drop them in this thread or send me a private message. If you have any questions after midnight, my DM's are open on Twitter and I'll be happy to help resolve anything that you need resolved.
We appreciate your membership here on OUI. Our late founder Brian Bishop would be very proud of the community that's been built and maintained here over the past 28 years, which has included several previous migrations. We are eager to continue bringing you the market's leading insider coverage on the revamped network.
Onward and upward!
