I am continuing my series on collecting data on OU recruiting and how the players actually performed. The 2014 was actually a pretty special class on offense (And I haven't even looked at walk ons yet). This class had one of the most special talented offensive weapons we have ever seen come through Norman in Carson Meier. There were some other good ones too though.

My Overall Thoughts:
  • At the top, this is a national championship level class. We brought in elite talent on offense with guys like Samaje Perine, Joe Mixon, Mark Andrews, Orlando Brown, and Dimitri Flowers. My theory is we need 4 or 5 90+ career players each class to really be a championship team. We got that in this class and it set the tone for 2015-2017 on offense
  • Pretty incredible we got Mark Andrews, Carson Meier, and Dimitri Flowers all in the same class. They carried the H-Back position over the next four years
  • The issue is that if you weren't a top player in this class, more than likely you never saw the field. These players were boom or bust. That is not a national championship level class.
  • 2nd year in a row we did not bring in talent at receiver. It kind of explains why we were not able to find good receivers to pair with Shepard and Westbrook in 2015-2016.
  • Hardly any talent on defense whatsoever. I loved Steven Parker and Devante Bond, but when they are your best defenders in a class, and the third is the dreaded Jordan Thomas than you will have problems down the line.
  • 2nd year in a row that it is a weak class for the offensive line. Orlando Brown and Bill Bedenbaugh really saved us.
Below are the players. Let me know if you want to argue some of my rankings.
