Question for the BV haters

Since everyone acts like he forgot what good defense looks like, can you share some insight to what they should do to stop the run or generate a pass rush? It seems to simply be a lack of personnel. They have a top 5 recruiting class, and hopefully can pick up a few transfers in the front 7. I just don’t know what else they can do without the players…

2022 Time Capsule - Hot takes and Sunshine

It seems our board is in shambles and split behind firing our first year head coach after a 5-4 start to the season. Let’s have some fun with this and hash it out with hot takes and sunshine pumping we can dig up a few years from now when BV has either turned the ship and starts winning championships or finds himself “in over his head” and gets fired.

Put it all on the table and say it with your chest. Where do you see the state of the program and direction under BV? What moves on the roster and staff you like or don’t like? Who you think we should’ve hired instead? We will see how all of our takes age over time

I’ll go first! I’m still on team sunshine and BV. I think this was a sinking ship that has been bailed out by all time great offensive talent for way too long. I see more bad personnel than scheme mistakes. I think BV underestimated how bad we are in the front 7. At least 3x times a game I see a well called blitz where a guy comes untouched in the backfield and misses a tfl for 5 yards turn into a first down or more. Not to mention our d line has the pass rush skills of a 7 on 7 team. Considering that front 7 is the strength of our 23 and 24 recruiting (commits and interested) plus JFA looks like he could potentially put our offense back in that tier we are accustomed to. I am bought in and believe we are just dealing with a bad batch of talent at the moment. Phil Jackson was a great coach but he still coached Mj, Pippen, Kobe, and Shaq. Saban is a great coach but there’s a reason he was barking about A&M buying players because talent still matters!

Please feel free to flame away at me.. hopefully we are digging this thread up on NC night a couple years from now and laugh

I have seen several post 'we need an all new 2 deep'

OU has a great class committed.. But what worries me is Texas and it's half time 31-10 over KSU in Manhattan..... I thought before the games today OU would be at 6-3 and after KSU beat the breaks off of Texas tonight Texas would go 5-4 and TCU loss would put Texas at 5-5 but after watching TCU today Texas will beat TCU next week and with what they have coming back even though #5 is gone... But if Texas finds a way to meet TCU for a rematch.. How are we going to be in any shape when we won't even have a qb for spring at this point

And even worse A$M will get to the point where they will fire numb nuts if Auburn beats their ass and LSU will be Jimbo's death nail.. How many kids on A$M list were down to A$M and Texas that Sark will pick off?????

How many classes will it take to just compete?

'23 Delp Chart

I've started/stopped this multiple times since the season went off the rails. I've largely avoided the board except for pinned threads + House of Dragon talk. There's no way I can do one for '22 without going off the deep end, so in the name of compartmentalizing, let's shove the '22 Delp deep down in a box and never open it again? Ok? K! Here's the '23 Delp Outlook, where hope springs eternal.

QB: Gabriel / Arnold / Evers
Ex: Good news about our struggles, I doubt DG leaves. Giving Arnold a year to grow and learn.

RB: Barnes / Major / Sawchuck
Ex: Is it me, or does Major go down at 1st contact far too easily. After getting used to Perine, Anderson, and Brooks....Major is just not slippery @ contact at all.

TE: Llewellyn / Helms / McIntyre
Ex: Transfer needed likely.

HWR: Pettaway / Freeman
Ex: I'm sure Stoops has a covid year in there somewhere, but does he want to come back? Pettaway and Freeman show, nonetheless.

XWR: Gibson / LVBS / K. Brown
Ex: Hope Gibson gets some run later in the season and sticks around.

ZWR: Farooq / Anderson / Evans
Ex: Farooq is tough as nails, now time to see more deep connections.

RT: Morris / Sexton / Ozaeta
Ex: Much like DG, Morris comes back.

RG: Byrd / Taylor
Ex: Do they roll with Guyton at LT, and move Byrd inside permenantly?

C: Raym / Anderson / Bates
Ex: Another year of (hopefully) Raym getting stronger and reaching his potential.

LG: Mettauer / Green / Alexander
Ex: True Freshmen push fat Sunshine? Green is talented enough to do it.

LT: Guyton / Parks / Hicks
Ex: Another year of development, Guyton COULD become good.

WDE: Downs / RMT / Adebawore
Ex: Group starts to look darn good with a year of S&C for RMT and +Adebawore's upside.

DT: Coe / Gilliam / Tarber
Ex: Coe never graduates, and holds down the middle.

DT: Halton / Ellison / Roberts
Ex: Halton has been a pleasant surprise when he's played, may need a transfer.

SDE: Grimes / Laulu / Vasek
Ex: Hopefully we go with the 4 man front perminentaly, Grimes (only) real success comes from bending the edge, can't do that if you're inside the Tackle. Seems like a waste to put him there.

WLB: Stutsman / Lewis / Carter
Ex: Upside galore, and DS makes an All Conference+ push.

MLB: Kanak / Mckenzie / Piccioti
Ex: Kanak time. DU could come back, but something tells me the path gets cleared for Kanak. Talent finds a way.

Cheetah: Harrington / Rowe / Spencer
Ex: He's still committed, so Spencer stays here.

CB: Walker / Davis / Wagoner
Ex: Not gonna lie, I'm going rouge on DBs.

CB: W. Washington / Williams / Vickers
Ex: Woodi has had nowhere close to a good enough season to leave early (common theme, might be a blessing in disguise.)

SS: Bowman / Burt / Mukes
Ex: Bowman back will be great this week, and for next year.

FS: Lawrence / RSJ / Harmon
Ex: Year 3 for Lawrence to finally stay on the field consistently.

Overall....the team might be half good if alot the the early declare guys (pre-season) return and improve. No one has played well enough sans Mims to leave early.

Proof Of Concept Loss

Losing sucks, and I’m not saying this is a moral victory, but anybody with half a brain who watched that game can easily see that we lot that game because of the players. If the players execute, we kill Baylor. But we have safeties who don’t know how to run fit, ends who can’t hold an edge, and a QB who threw 3 picks. Any recruit who watched that game can easily see this coaching staff knows what they are doing and can easily believe in the process. This was a good game for the future of the program. Once the talent is upgraded, we will be a force to be reckoned with.
