Coaching is everything

Of the 12 playoff teams ,6 of them have coaches that have been head coaches at their respected programs less than less than 3 full years .

Oregon 3rd year
Miami 3rd year
Indiana 1st year
Notre Dame 3rd year
Alabama 1st year
Boise State 1st year

Obviously Bama was loaded but the rest are in much better shape than when these coaches took over .

The first two out of the playoffs also have head coach’s who have only been at their respected programs under 3 full seasons

SMU 3rd year
Texas A&M 1st year

For the rest of the top 25

LSU 3rd year
Washington State 3rd year
Colorado 3rd year
Louisville 2nd year
Vandy 4th year

12 of the top 25 teams have head coaches that have been at their programs in the same amount of time as BV .All those programs minus Bama are much lessor programs .
How are all those head coaches thriving ?
“He just needs more time “ ……is that really a legit excuse?

Starting LG

Since becoming head coach (Dec 2021) and admitting that he needs to focus on the trenches for the SEC, here are the OL recruits BV has brought in; 8 total with 1 already leaving and another nowhere on the depth chart.
Only one is a listed starter, and the rest are 2nd and 3rd team guys.

There are 4 recruits listed on this cycle which won't contribute next year. The guys above may or may not be starting material next year. We're going to be stuck digging for gold in the transfer portal. I just don't see this getting better next year. Tell me I'm wrong.

Verse or Versus

Random thoughts:

1) Never thought the day would come where I feel so much built up frustration about Missouri football. Missouri! But, here it is. We really need to kick *ss this week.

2) Little things lead to big things. A strong first half against the Rebels. A strong showing against Maine. Let’s keep building on this.

3) We have a true freshman get snaps at OL against Maine and his first snap he draws a flag for being a little too fiery. And our entire fan base eats it up. A collective recognition of positivity. Love it. Let’s get more of that fire in these next three games.

4) Everything matters. So many freshmen playing late against Maine. Confidence builder for all. And a TD for Helms gets OC choked up. Good stuff all around. And it all matters.

5) Kevin Johns. I want to hear more about this guy. Both our QBs looked sharp yesterday. What’s he telling them?

6) Running game. If we can keep this up… Fill in the blank. Thoughts on the running game against Missouri?

7) I buried the lead. Sorry. I’ve been hearing the misuse of “verse” a lot lately. Kind of bugging me so I have to vent. A simple search reveals:

Verse
A noun that refers to a part of a poem, song, or chapter of the Bible or the Koran. It can also refer to writing arranged in lines that have rhythm and often rhyme. For example, "Due to her writer's block, the poet could only complete a few verses each day".

and

Versus
A preposition that means "against" or "in contrast to or as the alternative of". It is often used in legal and athletic contexts. For example, "The next soccer match is Mexico versus the United States".

Okay, it’s on to Missouri. Sooners versus Tigers. Our chance to return them to their normal and rightful state of mediocrity. You know, that from which we last saw them the last time we played. We need to do so with authority for old times sake. I really want to see us hit on all cylinders. Possible? What’s the betting line? Let’s gooooo!

Thoughts on Woodi Washington

First, let me quickly say that I have a lot of respect and appreciation for Woodi Washington. As far as I can tell, he is a great teammate, loves OU, works hard, and he has made important plays during his career (remember all his INT’s against TX his freshman year?)

But I don’t think he is a good fit at Cheetah/Nickle. The drop off between he and Dolby is very noticeable. I’d like to see more of Hardy on obvious passing situations and Dasan/Sammy against the run or blitzing.

Finally, I think Woodi is a better corner than Kani amd Malone. Don’t get me wrong—Woodi has had bad moments but I’d rather see a heavy dose of Eli at one corner and Jacobe/Woodi at the other.

Just my opinion.

Rewatching film

After watching the last 2 games, I feel way better about the O line. There is some athleticism there. They've gotten better, bet their graded better as well. I like Dent and Howland at tackles. Give them some time, let them learn now and another off season and they'll be vastly improved. EPL has that dawg in him.....reminds me of Samia and Trent Williams and Cody Ford.....looking for a fight. Need more nasty from the Oline. Fasusi and Fodje will bring it next year as well. I am feeling way better moving forward.. Want to see who plays against Mizzou and how they do. Wonder who gets the starting nods?
The future looks good guys.
