Survey on new arena?
“Bob, I’m aware of the survey. My mind’s been on Central Arkansas. I’m not even thinking about that right now in terms of anything with the survey. My focus has been on finals week and Central Arkansas.
Los confidence?
It’s growing. He’s always been confident. When we recruited him, he had such a feel and command of the game, and he had a confidence with the game. I know it’s growing and growing. I love that about him. It’s not a cocky confidence. It’s just a respectful confidence in his game. He’s not afraid of situations, he’s not afraid of competition, he’s not afraid of work. It’s not cockiness, it’s a respectful confidence he has in his game and others have it around him. You can just see it growing and growing.”
UCA?
Transition offense. They’re No. 10 in the country in pace of play. When we make a basket, we can’t have a celebratory trot. They get it out and throw Celtic passes, full-court passes. They rim run. They have three really good scorers. Their five-man is going to be a really good challenge for Tanner. It’s going to be in the mold of Dickson for Villanova. Thick, can shoot the three but also can put it on the deck and go by you, really impressed by him. He’s averaging 15 a game. He’s going to be a matchup for Tanner and Sam. Their two guards – their offense is what I think can really get them going. The pace of play, transition, they can shoot. That’s going to be one of the biggest keys for us. And to take advantage of their switching. They switch one through five. Everybody is going to switch. We have to take advantage of switching, which we’ve seen a lot. Unequivocally, transition defense and getting up on their scorers.
Who will emerge?
Between C.J., Otega, Benny and Joe, one of them is going to emerge before conference play starts. They’re all great kids. They’re all trying. We’ll see where we’re at. Joe made a couple of good plays for us offensively last game.
Jalen Hill/mask?
We're just still feeling that process out. I know he'd rather not wear it. It's just a matter of how long. His effort, his toughness, nothing has hurt him. He did miss some bunnies in the UMKC (game) and then he got fouled two or three times the Arkansas game where he got fould, but he could have gotten some and-ones. He's been better taking the hit in practice this week. Nothing's hurt his effort, his effort in everything. So, no timeline for really when it's going to come off as of yet."
