Suggestions for the B&M Show Annual Steak Bet

So a little context…

In the inaugural year of me and @dmackey13 launching the podcast, we made a steak bet wager of which “Who ends the year with the most receiving touchdowns?”

Year 1, I took the bet by placing my steak on Brayden Willis, of which Dmack correctly predicted, “if he leads in TD’s it ain’t gonna be good for the team.” 😂

Last year was closer as Drake Stoops (my choice) and Dmack’s choice of Nic Anderson took it right down to the final weeks of play.

This season, was thinking of shaking things up and wanted to get the board’s input on what the bet should be or should we not touch it and leave it as is?

Thoughts?

DrummBeat: Sooners officially add QB in portal?

*** As we have been alluding and hinting at for nearly a month now, the Sooners were looking for a QB in the portal after losing Gereral Booty and Jacob Switzer to the transfer portal. We first hinted on this on the board and the Youtube Live by saying the Sooners would likely be looking for a PWO type of QB to fulfill a little more depth in that room.

That search went pretty quick after OU and former Choctaw and OKPreps three-star QB Steele Wasel entered the portal and the Sooners quickly made contact with Wasel, who was previously at Akron. Wasel was recruited at Oregon by then Ducks' OC (now the Akron head coach ) Joe Moorehead. That relationship spurred Wasel's eventual signing with the Zips.

After redshirting in 2023, Wasel had a big spring and was looking to make a move toward the starting lineup. However, as with most transfers, things took place that made Wasel and his family feel a fresh start was needed.

For the last few weeks, the Sooners and Wasel have been looking to iron out the red tape that takes place with transfers, and Friday evening Wasel tweeted out a cryptic photo of Baker Mayfield by his locker room and sitting with infamous 'Pretenders' sign that Oklahoma took with them during their 2017 run to the CFB Playoffs.

Sources close to Wasel told OUinsider that it was "official" and that Wasel would moving in today (Saturday) with "another player." Source also added, "OU told [Steele] to be there and ready to go on June 2nd."

This is a really, really good get for a PWO spot. Wasel is athletic, big and has a strong arm. He also plays with the same type of flare and gunslinger mentality that the other OU QB's play with, so that fit in itself will be very good the Sooners and Wasel.

This get in the portal is another in a long line of PWO players that Brent Venables has added to fortify the roster. Not just a PWO's, but players that have interest from other programs in the P5 and G5 leve, but the Sooners have been able to add to their rosters without using a scholarship.

Wasel joins Jackson Arnold, Casey Thompson, Michael Hawkins, and Brendan Zurbrugg in the Sooners' QB room.

Tiare Jennings, like Jocelyn Alo, feels inevitable in Oklahoma City

"Well, it kind of feels like Jocelyn Alo at times. When she comes up, you know something good is going to happen, especially on these big stages."

-Patty Gasso on having Tiare Jennings in the batting rotation in OKC.

EXCERPT

Why we play - We’re beyond blessed to have played a part in continuing this program’s success and establishing OU softball as the best in the nation. But it’s not like we see each other as anything other than a couple of girls in their early 20s living out their dreams and having the time of their lives. We sometimes forget, amid the grind and pressures of being student-athletes at a major DI university, that we make an impact every day.

When we run errands around town and moms tell us how much we’ve inspired their daughters to believe in themselves and chase their dreams, it reminds us of the amazing platform we have.

We couldn’t be more grateful to OU for giving us this opportunity to impact families and young girls. We know we wouldn’t have these same opportunities everywhere. Without the support of the Love family and 1,100+ donors who gave to the project, we wouldn’t be playing in the crown jewel of college softball stadiums. It just goes to show that the Norman community and the state of Oklahoma not only care about women’s sports but also prioritize them.

While we’re sad that our collegiate careers are nearing the end, we know we still have a lot to play for as we try to make history again and complete the four-peat.

We’re going to play for the players who came before us and those who will play after us. We’re going to play for each other with this unbreakable bond we’ve created as a family.

Most importantly, we’re going to play knowing that whatever happens, win or lose, we’ll be surrounded by love from a community that has embraced two California girls as their own and made Norman our second home.

UPDATED: Kelly Maxwell shuts out UCLA as Sooners advance to the WCWS Semis

Before the Sooners' clash with UCLA, Patty Gasso had an "eye-opening" conversation with Kelly Maxwell. A few hours later, Maxwell had a career performance in a 1-0 win over the Bruins.

"To see her do that today (is) something I'll never forget.”

Patty Gasso, other coaches weigh in on whether the WCWS should rotate host sites

"There's nothing we can do. It's not our fault. It's no one's fault. It's the people of Oklahoma City that put in the money to make this happen. It's a celebration of that.

"You can look at it any way you want. Someone's going to have to put up big bucks to try to get it somewhere else. I know this is a long-term contract, as well. I don't know. Everybody has their opinions. As long as it's here, we're going to take advantage of it, just like anybody else would."

CFB Hourglass Projection for '24 OU

TL;DR: They predict us to go 9-3 but if we're better at QB and coaching than they have us we could go 10-2 or 11-1. (They're so far very unimpressed with BV and JFA.) This same group predicted Michigan would win the natty last year (over Georgia who didn't make it, but they had Texas and Washington in the playoff, too).
