Nick Saban NIL comments prompt Tuskegee coach to call for apology, Alabama to schedule every in-state HBCUby Dean StrakaMay 24, 11:22 AM

Tuskegee University head football coach and athletic director Reginald Ruffin called for Alabama football coach Nick Saban to issue an apology to and schedule the HBCUs within the state of Alabama after Saban mentioned Jackson State University during remarks on NIL concerns. HBCU Gameday reports the HBCU football community at large was not pleased with Saban mentioning an HBCU school by name in the form of Jackson State, and Ruffin sees Alabama scheduling in-state HBCU's as acceptable compensation.

Ruffin, via Facebook, proposed a plan in which Alabama plays in-state HBCU's on a rotating basis and pays HBCU schools north of $1 million in the process, according to HBCU Gameday. By the language of Ruffin's post, Auburn would also seemingly be implicated in that plan as a fellow FBS institution in the state.

"Okay everyone, sometimes you say things you don’t really mean and you hurt people or love ones in the process," Ruffin's Facebook post read in part. "Coach Saban shouldn’t have said anything about any other coaches, team, or players. Here’s how we fix this. Coaches rule: only speak about your team. Now Coach Saban, just say you (are) sorry in public and walk down to your AD’s Office and say “We need to play all the FCS HBCU in the state of Alabama because we are the only university in the state not playing the Alabama State’s or Alabama A&M’s in our great state. By the way, you not going to leave Tuskegee University out of it because we are going D1, and yes I said it.

"Each institution will get a guarantee of $1,500,000.00 for playing The University of Alabama on a rotating basis. Also that conversation with the AD on having the HBCUs play all FBS universities on a rotating basis in this state. Each HBCUs will get a guaranteed payday of $3,000,000.00 to $5,000,000.00 each year. This is a game changer. Now you are helping in-state HBCU universities. This is AD Ruffin hat on and now you change up the game for HBCUs at the FCS level in this state. Now, the AD for the University of Alabama and the head football coach Nick Saban will be the best advocate for all FCS HBCUs in this state. Also the ADs at the FBS level in this state will rotate playing and pay guaranteed payday for men’s and women’s basketball with all the HBCUs at the FCS level. This will increase revenue for our HBCU institution in this state and increase the budgets big time for our program."

So because Saban mentioned a HBCU he now owes them something? People need to grow the hell up and stop playing victims.
