In 2020, we lost to a K State team that was playing three walk ons in the secondary due to COVID. Then we lost to Iowa State in Ames for the first time since JFK was president. In 2021, we got our butts kicked by Baylor coming off a bye, and lost to Okie State 12 hours before our coach walked out the door.
Kansas State played the greatest game of their lives last night, and we made mistake after mistake and still almost won. Kansas State’s win expectancy in the game was 57%. We were right in it.
So for everybody freaking out and wanting changes, you need to chill out. It is all going to be okay. This team is still learning and growing. Our most talented players are Freshmen and Sophomores for the most part, and with time and experience, they will get better and play more, and we will improve as a team. While we will get every team’s best shot, the statistical odds of every opponent playing mistake free, and also at the highest level of their potential is nil. The defense is still learning. It was never going to be perfect year one.
