Vince Young Bankruptcy

That's a shame. Hate seeing these guys, regardless of who they played for or how long, who lived beyond their means or simply could not manage their personal and financial affairs. Yeah, it's on them and completely their fault, but I still hate seeing people struggle and fail.

Editor’s note: This article was originally published January 22, 2014

Aside from being old news, only a tool would feel glib about another guy getting stolen from.

Screw the longhorns every day all day, but feeling happy that Vince Young is having money troubles is just idiotic.

Does this really surprise anyone? I knew he was destined for failure as soon as he scored a "6" on his Wonderlic test at his NFL combine.

There's a lot of information missing from that article though. It doesn't really align itself to a definitive culprit.

I think it's odd that it suggests Vince and wife are nearly a $1M in the hole and without employment, yet their restraining order is only on the expenditure of more than $25k/month.

The median Austin household income is about $4,600/month before taxes. That's probably like $3,000/month post taxes. So he's a million in the hole and is allowed to spend about 10x the median household income in his locality?

I don't have any sympathy for him. He's had these problems for a long time and doesn't appear to learn a lesson very well. Maybe that's why he wasn't successful in the NFL. He always seemed to struggle with the playbook (see this) which next to actual execution is the primary job of the QB.

He is essentially a mental moron who has had so many chances in life to make more money than anyone he ever knew and just proceeded to blow it like a porn star. He needs to settle in and keep that job UT gave him as a sympathy position for the rest of his life.

But it looks like that job lasted only a year. I haven't seen any discussion as to why his employment there has been terminated.

EDIT - Oh, now I see the DUI. Maybe that ended his employment with the University.
The first story was from 2014... he got the texASS gig in 2015, I think, and the DWI in Jan 2016... he was still employed by them last year, as well as LHN...

I sure don't see any of this as sad in regards to Young. What I do think is sad is that this kid was able to stay eligible through all of his years at Texas. For all the hype that Texas gets for their academics they obviously don't apply that hype to it's athletes. Since Young left Texas he has been a problem for anyone who has been around him.

So, yes it is a sad situation, but it isn't sad in regards to Young. The sad part is that the NCAA and these universities allow themselves to bow down to the super athletes such as Young. Texas is no better than anyone else.

Young's academic "legacy" at Texas is bogus, as in the cases of many other athletes at other schools, OU included.

To his credit, he led texsa to their only national title since the Nixon administration. He is to them what Steve Davis, Jamelle Holieway, and Josh Heupel are to us.

Except it's 4-1...Boomer!
