1. Ratt played well. Didn't do too much and hit his wrs all night. He threw catchable balls. Glorified practice but you gotta take what's there and he did.
2. Super Mario brings an element to the team that was missing last year. His quickness/explosion is going to be a problem for teams. Wr core is solid but needs more dynamic players. Still not 100% sold on Hazelwood but I want him to be that "guy" so bad.
3. Say what u want but Congle is solid. I watched him early and he was stout (FCS I getit). Oline opened some holes and actually looked like they practiced inside drill...hard to judge when the other team had ZERO dudes.
4. The mix of Hall/Stog/Willis is solid. Willis has the most juice if u ask me....and he has the most potential to be dynamic. Watch him block...he was nasty on the edge a few times (FCS)
5. We took a step in the right direction. I'm sure we schemed Nebbish so it'll be interesting to see how we come out and play.
6. Dline played against the Walk-ons tonight. They feasted on a JV team
7. Backers still scare me. Bad angles, bad form and too much space in passing game. They just lack "feel" and toughness at the point of attack. David u looked solid and so did 28...sigh. 23 is still not great and 24 is often out of control (not sound). 13 was interesting 🤔
8. I'm convinced 32 is a nickel. I think that's his best spot. He played well for Bowman...I'd also bet u Bowman can play high safety and be a difference maker. 22 is NOT ready. I saw him run from contact 2 times, fly into the pile late with his head down and almost kill his own player, and not be sound in pass coverage. I like the pups and direction we are headed down the road. 15 has some dawg in him and made a play when he had the chance.
9. there's a play in the 2nd or 3rd quarter that gets stopped as the defense is picking up their "man" in coverage. It's CLEAR that safeties are picking up crossers and backers are manning up on rbs and then free to roam. Gives me a lot of clarity on who's job is what...in man coverage (obviously variations) but it helps confirm that backers can't track well and safeties aren't helping inside on crossers.
10. Solid win. Salute for the goose egg...that's an important identity deal.
Based on play today my starting 22 would be:
Qb Ratt
Rb Gray/Brooks
Wr1 Hazelwood
Wr2 Mims
Wr3 Super Mario
H-Back Willis
Rush - Bonitto
Tackle - Redmond
Nose - Winfrey
End - IT
Mike - David U
Will - Stunts 😔
Nickel - DTY/Bowman
Cb1 - Woodi
Cb2 - Davis/Hutch/Graham
Safety - Fields (didn't do anything wrong)
Safety - B Wash
Just based upon their play tonight.
