From the Norman Transcript today--John Shinn:
The OU coach remembered his first tour of the Sooners' old locker room at Owen Field. Half the letters on the "Sooner Magic" sign had faded away.
"You're sitting there in a dingy old locker room that, to me, looked like a high school locker room and this is what's on the wall."
"To me it reinforced what they were thinking of themselves. Or maybe through all the years of losing, that was constantly being shot at [strived for], which wasn't positive. As time goes on, that sinks into you. And then your surrounding area is the same."
"I was just dumbfounded that this was Oklahoma."
Stoops said the sign was fixed shortly after he took over.
It's a miracle we ever got Stoops as head coach. Joe C. and Boren must have made some serious promises about facility improvements.
