Those who listen to Josh Pate have heard him discuss this before. I’m curious how this little slice of the fan base would feel about the following Spring Game scenario.
We pick a fairly local team that won’t involve much travel (teams that come to mind are OSU, TCU, SMU, UNT and Tulsa). The Spring Game would become a week-long event. We’d have three practices with our partner team, going through drills our O vs their D, their O vs our D. Then the Spring Game would be a scrimmage between the two squads with agreed upon rules (15 plays of O1 v D1 both ways, the same for O2 v D2, etc or whatever).
For teams like Tulsa or UNT, I’d imagine this would be in Norman for the practices and game every time. For the other universities, they may be able to do two practices at one site, have a day off, one practice and the game at the other site.
As a fan, would this excite you more about the Spring Game or would this put you off or cause concerns?
