Just my opinion .... I think OU can make the final four.

But it will be Alabama vs. Clemson for the championship again.

Right now Alabama and Clemson are in a league of their own. It will take OU 3 more years of good recruiting to catch up.

Their defense might be as good as it was last year, but they lost a bunch of guys off that unit to graduation. Like eight out of eleven.

I think its more likely their defense will cost them a game or two during the regular season, and that will be enough to keep them out of the playoff.

We'll know more after they play LSU though.

I feel that if OU can move up to a ranking of #70 on defense it will be a very successful year.

Texas in my opinion will not live up to the hype. Yes they have a very good QB but he has also shown that he is injury prone. I just dont see it because I do believe they lose as many as 4 games this season.

This Texas media love is over the top if you ask me and it will be fun to watch Ehlinger and the scum Herman get humbled.

Shorthorns lost a bunch of OL protection for Ehlinger. This could put extra pressure on him to tuck the ball and run...and expose him to many hits to his bum shoulder this year. He gets hurt and their season is toast. I just don’t get media giddiness over the burnt orange. They are not back.

CT I don’t believe any of us think Texas is going to be an easy out as we always know it is a tough game for our Sooners. With that being said I personally don’t think Texas is back as far as a NC contender goes. The media though is hoping they are and so is ESPN.

Seems like they (Disney Jackasses) hope Shorthorns are back...so they can get interest in Longhorn Channel. The spring game televised was a clown show...they are NOT back. Herman even lost one of his best offensive talent after the game. That should resonate failure down range.

I know Texas has painted itself in a corner and I have doubts about Herman. But things can happen quickly especially if Texas gets a franchise QB. Such s player may be in the 2019 class.

Herman is my issue with Texas not so much Ehlinger. It seems to media is all over his jock strap because of the love they have for him. The guy in my opinion is just a loose cannon who wines and bitches about every loss and has one excuse after another. If its not that he is crying about a horns down tradition that has been around for ages.

Yes he did coach his team to a win over UGA but one win doesnt make a team being back. OU is just one game on a schedule for Texas to have to overcome while LSU , ISU, OSU and Baylor are also potential hurdles. Yes OU plays those same conference games but you would think by reading the medias opinions that Texas is suddenly the king of the Big 12. Texas has never been the king that dominated the B12 in historical terms. Yet the media and that fan base act as if they have.

Truth is I hate the arrogance of the Horns ( fans and the university) that act as if they are the B12 and they are the only reason the B12 is around. Hell in my lifetime dating back to the 60s they have always been this way even when they wasn’t in the same conference as our Sooners. If they are truly back then God help us all because next thing you they will be telling us all that they are Americas team.

Fair enough but until he wins a conference title or make a CFP game he is just a over-hyped coach who is receiving accolaids for winning nothing of importance.

Not sold on Herman either. Just another guy who talked his way into a big contract. He whines like someone who is in over his head...to distract attention from his own coaching bonehead moves and flops. Another used car salesman....keep em coming to the Shorthorns.

Texas and big contracts are synonymous... but I believe Herman earned his way. Having said this, I don't like the guy... at all. But I do respect his wins. He's beat us twice with two different organizations, in a very small window. That alone is deserving of respect.

As far as TexASS , there is something about PeeWee Herman that says loser....

It's not just Herman we need to worry about. although like many here, I'm not quite sold on him.

But their DC is probably the best in the conference, and that's a big deal.

Also, just like OU beating AL in the sugar bowl a few years ago heralded another era of success for OU, last years victory by UT over an excellent GA team should have everyone in Norman's attention.

Again, I don't think they'll make the playoff this year, but they're on the rise, and I think we're for a dog fight for the foreseeable future.
