Sooner's, your game against my Clemson Tigers just got a bit easier.....

Never been in the Navy and have no idea what Green Grog is. But in 1978 we were drinking Billy Beer.

Was that what is was called? Jimmy Carters brother. It came in a green can.
Green Grog = 1 pint of Everclear, 2 fifths Lime Vodka, 4 litres of Mountain Dew.

Replace the Lime Vodka with Grape and MD with Grape Juice and you got Purple Passion.

Tasted great....but made you do stupid things. :)

No the TE that's suspended is a non contributor. The kicker does kickoffs and extra points but not field goals. Cain is the biggest loss as our primary vertical threat with touchdowns in the last six games
Nope, Cain only Had 12 yards receiving and no TDs, against UNC. He's a good player though.

He looks average to me, not great, just average...

Sorry, it's kind of a Sooner board joke you wouldn't understand. No doubt the guy is great. We have one too. Mr. Eric Stricker.....

Our freshman tackles ate up the two DE's you named and I know the OSU guy is projected very high in the draft.

Don't be surprised to hear a guy named Devonte Bond having a great game. He's a backup, but IMO he was the defensive player of the game against Tennessee.
I thought your OLine gave up a ton of sacks this year. Wasn't Mayfield sacked something like 34 times, while Deshaun was only sacked abour 12 times this year? Are your OTs that good if your QB is getting sacked a ton, or is the issue in the iddle?

Here's my take. I might be wrong as I'm not a coaching type poster.
First the 34 sacks seemed high when I looked it up. Breaking it down it equals 2.8 per game. I can live with that with a Q-B that has a tendency to leave the pocket and make things happen with his feet. Baker very rarely threw the ball away this year. I can honestly tell you I don't remember one time where he lost huge yardage on a sack. Most of them were one or two yards. You also need to figure in the fact that two of our experienced OL's were injured for 2 or 3 games early in the year. We also had a senior tackle that was replaced mid season for poor play. The addition of a true freshman replacement was a key to the season IMO. We immediately gelled into a fine unit.

This is getting long, so I'll just end it by saying, I'll give you 3 sacks in this game if you give us a penalty free game(esp 10\15 yarders) against your team. Those killed more drives than all the combined sacks I saw this year.

What I would find really interesting is the number of sacks avoided. Baker is extraordinarily good at getting away from the sack. Our OL is not our strong suit, but they've come a long way since the first half of the season.

Oh man, everyone just chill, we got this.

We get the W tomorrow.

That's the deal...relax, and that's an order!:D

Zer0, I respectfully disagree. The OL was a huge problem until mid-season. Something happened 7 wins ago and it was our running game\run blocking line. That was no accident. We absolutely (no pun intended) became a complete team once the line gelled. No way Baker would have had his numbers without the run.

My biggest and only fear is the long lay off. I've seen some stinker bowl efforts over the years............

By the same token, clem might be flat, afraid and uninspired. I know they're afraid.

I've read all these posts of theirs...they're trickling ooze out their grommet.;)

Actually you are agreeing with me, perhaps I wasn't very clear. I meant to say that the contribution of sacks in the first half of year were mostly because our OL wasn't very good. In the 2nd half (after Texas), our OL has been pretty decent. I still wouldn't rate it as a strong suit of ours, but it's more than servicable. Bakers ability to avoid the sack after things have broken down is going to be a real problem for any formidable defense. The OL will break down, even the best do. We happen to have someone who is adept at keeping things going even when that happens.

I was actually praising the OL after the TX game and meaning that with their improvement and Bakers ability to avoid a sack, it's going to be much more difficult to get the sack than it would be with just a great OL.

I do share your concerns about the time off though and I really hope the hype hasn't gotten into their heads ala the USC debacle.

I agree, a run game developed. OU has over a 300 yd/pg over the past 5 games. That's alot of yards. A lot of offense. I remember Riley's comments after the Texas game stating that he needed to call a better game and mix in more run plays. And when he did, the offense gelled.

You're right, clem is gonna have to choose their poison carefully.
Put 8 guys in the box to stop the run, Baker will shred them with passes to primarily Shep and his band of sticky handed receivers.
Back up to stop the pass and Mixon and the runaway Zamboni Perine will gut you with 10 to 30 yard runs all night.

If I were Clemson, I wouldn't want to play OU.
They're just too damn good.:D

Oh, I forgot the coolest part of the quiver...when Baker can't find an open receiver, he just runs for the first down himself. He's amazing!
