In an electrifying display of offensive firepower and pitching prowess, the No. 12 Oklahoma Sooners (26-10, 7-8 SEC) dismantled their in-state rivals, the Oklahoma State Cowboys, 11-1 in a run-rule victory at O’Brate Stadium in Stillwater. A crowd of 6,810 witnessed the Sooners’ relentless bats and aggressive base-running overwhelm the Cowboys in a one-sided Bedlam showdown.

Oklahoma wasted no time asserting dominance, erupting for five runs in the top of the first inning. The rally began with Trey Gambill’s single to left, followed by Jaxon Willits’ single to advance Gambill. Easton Carmichael’s bunt single turned chaotic when a throwing error by the OSU catcher allowed Gambill to score. Sam Christiansen then ripped a single to right, plating Willits and Carmichael. After a flyout, Dayton Tockey reached on a fielder’s choice, and another OSU throwing error allowed Christiansen to score. Kyle Branch capped the inning with an RBI single, giving OU a commanding 5-0 lead before OSU could blink.

Freshman left-hander Jaden Barfield set the tone on the mound for his first collegiate start. He pitched two scoreless innings with no hits, one walk, and two strikeouts. James Hitt (3 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K) earned the win with a stellar relief outing, while Dylan Crooks sealed the deal with a save, striking out three in the final inning despite a late OSU double.

The Sooners added to their lead in the fourth when Christiansen’s double to right-center scored Willits, who had reached on an OSU error, making it 6-0. Oklahoma State finally responded in the bottom half with a solo homer from Colin Brueggemann, but it was too little, too late against OU’s suffocating pitching.

The eighth inning saw Oklahoma put the game out of reach with another five-run outburst. Gambill walked and advanced on a wild pitch, then scored on Willits’ single. A pair of stolen bases by Willits and Carmichael, then Christiansen hit by pitch, loaded the bases for Jason Walk, who crushed a grand slam to left-center, pushing the lead to 11-1. Crooks closed the door in the bottom half, striking out Beau Sylvester to trigger the run rule.

Key Playmakers
  • Jason Walk: His lone hit was a game-changer—a grand slam in the eighth that buried OSU.
  • Trey Gambill: Went 1-for-3 with two runs, two walks, and constant pressure on the bases.
  • Jaxon Willits: A 2-for-4 night with three runs, an RBI, a walk, and two stolen bases showcased his speed and instincts.
  • Sam Christiansen: Delivered a 2-for-4 performance with two runs, three RBIs, and a crucial double.

Looking Ahead
The Sooners are traveling to Columbia for an SEC series against the Missouri Tigers this weekend, bringing momentum from their recent emphatic Bedlam victory. With their bats clicking and pitching staff in sync, Oklahoma looks poised to make noise in conference play.
