COLUMBIA, MO — The Oklahoma Sooners rolled past the Missouri Tigers 17-7 in game two of Friday’s doubleheader, securing the series and setting their sights on a sweep. The Sooners’ relentless offense, punctuated by a six-run eighth inning, secured their third consecutive run-rule victory.

Oklahoma’s bats erupted early, with Easton Carmichael leading the charge. The slugger delivered a monstrous six-RBI performance, including a pair of home runs. His three-run blast in the eighth, which ricocheted off the top of the scoreboard, capped a decisive rally that put the game out of reach. Jaxon Willits also had a big game offensively, going 3-for-5 with four runs scored and three RBIs. Sam Christiansen added three hits, three RBIs, and a homer, and Drew Dickerson, playing in his home state, went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

The Sooners struck first in the third, plating four runs. Carmichael’s two-run homer to left-center scored Willits, who singled, and Jason Walk followed with a two-run shot to right, scoring Dayton Tockey. Oklahoma doubled down in the fourth with another four-run frame. Willits’ bases-loaded double sparked the rally, and a wild pitch, combined with Carmichael’s sac fly, pushed the lead to 8-0.

Missouri clawed back, with Kaden Peer’s two-run homer in the fourth making it 8-2. The Tigers added two more in the fifth and two in the seventh, but Oklahoma’s offense was unstoppable. Christiansen’s two-run homer in the seventh and a six-run eighth—highlighted by Carmichael’s second homer—sealed the 17-7 rout.

On the mound, Kyson Witherspoon delivered a strong outing in game one of the doubleheader, striking out 10 over six innings while allowing four earned runs on six hits. Despite some capitalized hits, Witherspoon’s performance kept the Tigers at bay.

A defensive highlight came early when Dawson Willis made a spectacular catch in the first, leaning over Missouri’s dugout to rob Keegan Knutson of a foul ball.

With the series in hand, Oklahoma now aims for its first SEC sweep of the season in game three, which is set to follow shortly. A win would push the Sooners two games above .500 in conference play, bolstering their postseason resume.

Up Next: The Sooners and Tigers wrap up the series in game three around 4 PM CST, with Oklahoma looking to complete the sweep and solidify its SEC standing.
