Class of2020 4-Star Ath Drew Sanders decommitted to go with Alabama. Bama intends to use him as a Linebacker.

Not good. Sanders' video was impressive and he is a top rated recruit.
Grinch has enough to concern himself with and losing such a defensive talent in recruiting should not be in the mix.

Ou was recruiting him as a TE, Bama recruiting him as a LB. He said the SEC is a better place to play defense. Sanders is a great athlete, but we have another athlete/TE in Henderson. Would be great to have both, but with Stogner already on Campus and Calcaterra hoping coming back the depth at TE/H-back is pretty full.

But why...again....will Sanders not "see the field at Alabama" ?

The only reason I can see for his comment is that Bama will have depth at the lb position. They recruit 4-5 star guys who only play LB. Sanders has/is primarily played offense. I wish him all the best, but I believe he would have a better career on offense, but there's a reason Saban wants him as a LB.

His junior year, Sanders playing LB, had 119 tackles (10 for lost yardage), 8 sacks, 3 interceptions (two were returned for TD's).

My guess is that Saban will give Sanders what he will need to be a good player at whatever position he eventually plays.
This defection by Sanders, as well as the sluggish recruiting for defensive players in general, could be very telling about OU's poor defensive reputation, which can't be very good at this time.

It would seem he would have a better chance of starting with the Sooners. Maybe the big bag of Bama cash was at finish line for him? Or empty Saban promises?

But it hasn’t been for years. With the top defensive recruits, it’s going to be...”Show me what you can do Grinch” I don’t blame them either. OU was nationally ranked in the bottom half of the bottom half. And I can’t say that I don’t blame them either. We’ll eventually get there though.

I'm aware of how the defense has been in recent years.
It will likely take 2-3 years, if ever, for Grinch to develop a defense that can at least prevent opponents from scoring over 40 points routinely. He has a huge task ahead of him and it seems to be off to a sluggish start if recruiting means anything.

Washington State defense under Grinch improved every year. And WSU doesn't have the pull as OU to bring in 4 & 5 stars. It could take a year or for the defense to improve significantly but steady improvement is what is needed. Prime the pump with good defensive play and more players will come. That's what the draw is about Alabama. Beat Alabama again as we did in 2014 and we get infused with better defensive players. Our offense is dynamic with good QBs and an offense that requires good wide receivers. That's why we picked up outstanding receivers this past year. If Reily keeps us pursuing the national championship the players will come.

What if President Jackson hadn't signed the "Indian Removal Act" of 1830? Would I today live in Morgan County, Alabama and be a big Tide fan? A signature on a paper forced me to be a Sooner.

With all of us, change one little thing in history and we ain't here.
