It was a great game today. Both teams played hard. A couple of close calls and one very questionable call went against the Sooners, but it was a very good win nonetheless. Need to finish ‘em off in the morning. BOOMER!

Yes great game today but those umps had issues today. I can see the missed call at 1B on the bunt play but the play at 3B where the OSU player pushed her hand off the bag was just a bad call. Gasso was pretty hot over that call and deservingly so.

Yep. She may have been tossed before, but that’s the first time that I’ve ever seen it.

Pitching is letting OU down today. 9-1 lead down to 9-7.

OU wins ugly but freshman pitcher Nicole May finished off the Cowgirls 11-8. May was great in relief after the Sooners blew a 9-1 lead. Big 12 Champs again.

BOOMER!!

This just might be the best Bats and fielding team in OU history. But we don't have that girl that can go 5-7 innings Ace. G is good but not great and the rest are young.

Totally agree. I don’t think we have the pitching needed to go all the way unless we simply out score them and rob them with our defense. I hope I’m wrong but I’ll be watching every inning until the very end. BOOMER!!

If we stay in the winners bracket, we'll be okay in the post season. But we're going to run out of pitching quickly if was have to play extra games in the loser's bracket. We should now get a break in the conference tournament. If the brackets are like they've been in the past, OU, Tech and Baylor will be in half the bracket in a 3 team round robin and OSU, Texas and Iowa State will be in the other half. Kansas stays home.

Then 1, 2, and 3 in one half plays 1, 2, and 3 in the final day. Ones play for the championship and the automatic bid. I suspect that we'll see OSU again. They beat UT three straight in Austin.

The Pokettes are decent competition; give them credit for not quitting in any game
Here's the brackets:

And I think OSU proved not just this weekend but all year long they are much better than decent competition. They're ranked 9th in the nation, took one from us, and scared us in the other two games.

I agree about our pitching. Definitely took some lumps and had some control and spotting issues this weekend. Bur I do think it's good enough to win it all with the help of our bats.

Going into the weekend we were essentially #1 in fielding (really #3, but the top two teams have only played two games). We might have taken a hit through Sunday. Waiting for the stats to update. I wouldn't say it's OU's best ever, but it should be good enough to win it all obviously.

But our hitting is historic. The difference between #1 OU and #2 Miami (OH) in Team Scoring is the same difference as between #2 Miami and #136 Army. That's unheard of.

Sometimes strength of schedule doesn’t mean much, but then sometimes it does. S of S is about the only issue facing the Sooner girls at this point.
I am not that big of a believer in SOS these days. So many times these SOS rankings are based off opinions more so than actuality. For instance if you go look at Bama's schedule this season the OOC really isn't all that impressive and certainly not any better than OU's. However where Bama gets it's jump in SOS is from the perceived rankings of so many SEC teams in the Top 25 rankings or within the top 40.

For instance ESPN was clamoring about Bama during our series vs. OSU, ( Yea imagine ESPN trying to tell everyone about how great the SEC is when they aren't even playing in the game being broadcast) when they put that blind resume up. The problem is and what they didn't mention was that of those 28 games Bama has played, 26 of those are vs. SEC opponents. Not all of them are now ranked though.

Texas A&M, Ole Miss, UGA and Miss State are all just outside the top 25 at this point but because it seems the voters can't get the SEC out of their minds this makes Bama's SOS jump up. Even though OU played UGA and Miss State it only marginally helps OU. The Sooner gals though have played Arizona State (12), Wichita (24), Missouri (15), Liberty (25), OSU ( 9 ), and Texas (10) who are all currently ranked. The only real difference is that some of the other teams OU has played aren't looked upon the same way as those Bama other SEC opponents.

When I heard the SEC commentator say Bama has been more tested I really don't buy into that. Softball, baseball and to some extent even Basketball is no different than the football rankings. The voters are so smitten with the SEC they want to rank everyone in that conference.

Bottom line for me is that this OU team will be just fine and will compete in the tournament this season. If a weak link exist though it is in the pitching but I do believe they are more than good enough along with the offense to bring another WCWS title to Norman.

I agree, 59. My reference to S of S was more about ceding especially if the girls drop another game in the Big 12 tournament. You don’t think UCLA or a SEC team wouldn’t jump us if that happened, even if we come back and win the tournament. Win out and our schedule won’t be an issue. BOOMER!

I won't be surprised to see UCLA as the number 1 seed anyway. I actually have no issue with that because that team in my opinion is the one team that can match OU in hitting and may actually have better pitching. I actually see the committee having UCLA at 1, OU at 2 ( if we drop another game I could also see Bama passing us as long as they win the SEC).

Are you sure it's tomorrow night? I thought it was tonight at 7:30 CST. The Championship game is scheduled for 3 pm tomorrow.
You were right, and I missed keeping up with the game because I mis-read the schedule. Damn. OU 8 Tech 2. Thanks, Scottsdale.

The game with OSU will be televised at 3 pm today. We’re use to seeing more OU softball on TV than what we saw this season. I’ll be watching this afternoon. BOOMER!

I just heard that the girls did indeed play and won yesterday but they were only carried by regional espin (which my son has access to on his phone)

OU fans should be very thankful for Jayda Coleman for 2 reasons. She is one of the best fielders OU has ever had and she flipped Bill Bowman from UT to OU.

I couldn't believe Lincoln took 6 months to offer Bowman, with Jada already on campus. If Bowman is anywhere near the athlete Jada is, we have a player.

We have the 2 best freshman in the country in, Coleman and Jennings.

I think Sooner fans will be glad we have Nicole May for three more years, too. Solid freshman class. BOOMER.

You are right, just because someone has had so much success doesn’t mean it’s time to go.
I was pleasantly surprised to hear our girls jumped into the #1 seed for the regionals
