Beautiful night at the fair with the wife, son & daughter-in-law and 2-grand kids 4 & 7. After winning more than our share of vinyl & polyester items from various vendors we were getting in line for the bumper cars just south of the Bennett building (or whatever it's called) there were what sounded like gun shots. I'm getting the grandson in line and the next thing I was aware of was the sound of a giant waterfall of running footsteps and the attached people fleeing totally out of control toward us.
I'm talking about 300 - 400 people running between and over other people, the game booths & the fences that keep people from getting hit by the rides. First we take cover out of the way of the onslaught of people, strollers, kids on shoulders, etc. to try to determine which is the best course of action. It is not always best to run where everyone else is running.
We found good tactical cover and waited for the horde's to pass. I spotted a cop on a radio and asked him what we should do and he said just exit the fair to the south and that some people in the Bennett building had started shooting at each other.
While it sucked to have to leave the fair it sucked even worse to have to sit in your car for over 2-hours to get out of the parking areas. I'm not trying to make light of this - this $hit has gotten way out of control.
