Sitting in on a Zoom call with Shane Beamer and Calvin Thibodeaux this afternoon. Will pass along any notes.
* Good impressions on Mikey Henderson so far working with the H-back group
* Gabe Brkic continues to be that guy. What a stud of a humanoid.
* Man. Beamer starts listing off all of the guys that have been in his room and the guys that he now has in his room ... what a talented unit. Jeremiah Hall, Brayden Willis, Austin Stogner and Mikey Henderson is a group of dudes. Very exciting.
* This might be the unit that I'm most excited to see how they utlitize this season. Great safety option for Spencer Rattler.
* "We've got to be dominant in the run game to open things up in the passing game" ... Beamer notes his H-back/TE group has to be better after the catch in the open field this season. Will be important.
* Calvin Thibodeaux says Perrion Winfrey is around 6'4, 295 ..."He's going to have to do it on gameday but you can see the skills are there" ... as we've heard ... sounds like he's pretty excited about unveiling him.
Also says, "When everything is on ... he can do it all" ... Perrion Winfrey is an alpha dog. That was said. Erect.
* Thibs says the way Alex Grinch sets up practice he feels like his DL group has had plenty of reps ... keep in mind OU is returning many guys along the defensive front.
* Thibs on Jamar Cain, "He's a stud ... great recruiter and bonus to the staff". @BPrzybylo will be featuring that duo in the future.
* We officially have a Kori Roberson mention. Mark this day down in history.
Editorial: I am really interested to see how this DL comes together. Sounds like LaRon Stokes -- do people forget he was the Big 12 DL of the Year??? Crazy -- has become the vocal leader of the unit. I do think they have a nice collection of depth but who out of those 6,7,8 guys rises to the top? No order but a nice rotation of Jalen Redmond, LaRon Stokes, Perrion Winfrey, Isaiah Thomas, Jordan Kelley seems rather healthy.
