Does anyone know if there is an active movement to get the SEC softball tournament to OKC?
I can’t find anything online about what type of contract the big 12 has with the stadium, or really any articles seriously looking into the matter.
I could see other SEC members objecting to it being in OU’s backyard. Which, will at the same time be on the far western edge of the conference as opposed to the center like it is in the big 12.
I also don’t know how much SEC schools value hosting the tournament on campus.
But if the opportunity came open, it seems a little silly to not give your teams a practice run in the World Series stadium, and the diehard fans are already familiar with getting to, and staying in OKC.
Additionally, I would imagine for the city of OKC, an SEC tournament would mean radically more tourism dollars than an OSU led Big 12. Unless softball just isn’t big enough to draw a sufficient number of fans that will probably have to fly to attend.
