SCOOPHD: Bixby wins a classic over Sand Springs to make it back-to-back in 6A-II
PROSPECT BREAKDOWN
- 2017 Bixby DT Brendon Evers: For me, there can be nowhere else to start than with the game's most disruptive force. Evers was relentless all night making life miserable for the Sand Springs interior offensive line. If the Sandites weren't double or triple teaming the 6-2, 285 pound junior, he was going to make his way into the backfield - often splitting the double team regardless. Even if Evers wasn't the guy making the play, he was collapsing the pocket with bull rushes, stretching out runs by destroying the blocker at the point of attack, or clogging up running lanes and freeing up his linebackers due to all of the attention he received from Sand Springs. Eddie and I were trying to come up with something more creative as we both hate falling into the obvious comparisons, but man alive Evers just looks like Matt Dimon out there. Consider me a huge fan of his game and I'll be very interested to watch his recruitment evolve.
- 2018 Bixby OT Bryce Bray: I got a chance to stand right next to Bryce and he is definitely the 6-5 as his profile lists and has an impressive frame for just a sophomore in high school. And what's great about Bray is he actually has some flexibility and natural athleticism for a guy of that size. He got beat a few times when he would caught lunging or become overzealous and leave his stance too early. However, Bray's feet and quickness allowed him to diffuse speed rushes all night. Need to see more out of the young right tackle, but he's definitely a sophomore to keep an eye on.
- 2017 Sand Springs LB Delvin Jordan: While not the tallest guy, Jordan is still a stout linebacker with a nice skill-set to complement his size. He's got enough speed to run down guys on the edge and a few times showcased a nice shoulder lean getting around the edge. Plays under control, which allows him to be a very consistent tackler.
ORIGINAL: Got the dynamic duo of @Eddie_Rado and myself out to watch Sand Springs vs. Bixby at Tulsa Union.
