Ruffin McNeill post-game comments

Bookie should be gathering more confidence and making changes via good coaching. He looks more lost now and certainly slower to react. Looks like he may be destined for special teams coverage if things stay the same.

Mike told us for years now that we just have to accept other teams scoring 30+ points on us. Some on this board even agreed. Now it has gotten to this point...an all time low. What are we going to do next year when we don't have a Baker or a Murray? Its not going to be pretty and Riley will have to really start earning that paycheck.

Well lets hope a new DC is coming shortly that will jerk a knot in their asses. Like I literally think every defensive players scholarship should be on the line after this season. They should have to earn to keep their scholarship spot in the off season and the spring.
We just hope Lincoln gives them complete control to make any decision he needs to make.

The current coaching staff would make Ronnie Lott, Deion Sanders, and Charles Woodson look clueless.
Exactly!! I can't think of any defensive player in the last 5 years that actually got better in their time at OU. Obo maybe is the best example?? Most players that look promising in their freshman year, end up looking lost and clueless by the time they graduate.

Hiles was a 5 star big time recruit. Yet he looks average at best. Was he just completely overrated or are we not putting him in a situation to where he can be successful? The kid has made one big play the entire season

He was a corner in high school. Was recruited as a corner. But now he's been asked to play safety. It's amazing that Ruffin even said that last week when asked about him being played out of his natural position.

I must say, as a 5-star recruit, Bookie sure hasn't looked very good.

We are so thin at safety and Bookie, keeps getting the safety spot more often then not. At CB, he's not bad, decent hips and speed but OU has coached heel play more then ball of the feet play. Even 25+ feet off of their assignment, most are still back peddling. OU runs a prevent defense like set more then any Div1 team I've seen.

Kansas showed just how fundamentally flawed OU scheme is. And worse yet, just how stubborn, stupid or out of their depth our coaching staff truly is. Kansas that averages about 200 yards a game passing but most of our defense was set for the pass. We did play Kelley more but both he and Murray dropped into coverage more then gap fill. Barnes was the only player that recognized plays.

I'm guessing we spent 1 practice for Kansas and the rest for WVU.

I hear ya.....but I've seen him miss at least 2 easy int's and constantly wifs on tackles. I've heard some close to the program say that he has been a big disappointment. Lets hope he improves

We didn’t tackle well enough either. Our defense made the Kansas backs look like miniature Belldozers.

The cushions we have been giving are just slowing down inevitable scoring drives. All out blitzing, press coverage and someone covering the RB on screens/wheel routes (i.e., cutting off Grier's outlets) would seem like the logical desperate change up. Despite running in a couple of critical TDs, Grier is not that mobile - he's got negative rushing yardage on the year. Time for some Al Davis, "the opposing quarterback must go down, and must go down hard."

On the flip side, hope Riley is sharpening up his 4th down conversion attempt plays...we can't afford punts. And stop being so damn conservative on 3rd and long....

Might as well go for it on 4th down, the other team is going to score whether they have to drive 4 yards or 96 yards for a score. After each score onside kick. I think the success rate is about 20%, that can't be much worse than the odds of the defense getting a stop. Go for 2 instead of kicking the pat, anything we can do to steal a few points.

Speaking of going for 2...Kansas made those 2 pt conversions look soooooo easy on us. Don't be shocked to see other teams trying it. TT and OSU probably kicking themselves for trying that stupid QB-roll-to-the-right pass that everyone uses. Probably cost them both the game.

And speaking of going for two, it made me sick to see those guys acting like they'd made a play on OSU's failed 2 pt conversion the week before. That cat was wide open, and but for a poor pass we would have lost that game.... and OUr guys thought they had something to do with it. tOSU got the same lucky break against Maryland this past weekend.

brings to mind another 5* recruit with the initials CK
