Eh, screw him and his horse.

We don't want anyone less than 100% committed to us.

We deserve nothing less.
We're OU football.;)

I'm not going into meltdown mode but, no, this isn't a good thing. Many on the board have posted that the talent level wasn't there this past season to get over the hump. The class of 2016 is shaping up to be a disaster guys. Maybe the lowest ranked class in Stoops tenure. I recognize 'stars' aren't everything, but they are something.

Fitty, I agree w/ you on both accounts.

Of course OU doesn't want a recruit that doesn't want to be at OU and committed 100%. That's a given.

We're OU football, we deserve better.

Ya pretty much. What looked like really great promise about a month ago, is slowly starting to look like a bunch of promising leads turning to disappointment. At least one more of the commits on the list is a for sure decommittment as OU has supposedly pulled the offer. Also rumors are going that another OU commitment has a visit set with UT that could lead to another loss. Kelly isn't panning out as planned, and another kid looks to prolly choose Kansas over OU.

Had we beaten Clemson, would this be happening? I think NOT!
OU is said to be leading on DT Southall from Duncanville Texas and is in the mix for DE Amani Bledsoe from Kansas.
With 7 4-star players still committed after Daniels' going away, I will wait until after signing day before I determine for myself how good the 2016 class will be....but I don't consider this class will be a "train wreck" by any means, even if LB Caleb Kelly can't be had.
I believe OU has an alternate plan in line in the wake of Daniels' defection.
Remember also that OU landed DB Parnell Motley after he decommitted from Maryland.
OU may get another decommitted player before it's all said and done.

Damn sure hope so CT. As of right now, this Class is weak and just got weaker.

2016 recruiting is not over but very disappointing to this point that we are not getting more out of a big xii championship and playoff appearance. This class so far is very weak. Why can't Bob Stoops recruit top Texas talent anymore? A&M, Baylor, TCU, Texas and even Houston getting the better top Texas talent.

Daniels was a soft verbal from the get go and should have been told to hit the road rather than listing him as a Sooner commit.

the bowl game proved that our dline has zero depth, losing him hurts. McFarland needs to step up and do some recruiting.
Sooners redshirted DEs Gabriel Campbell and Kenneth Mann....also DT Neville Gallimore....and played Marquise Overton as a true freshman.
Players like Courtney Garnett, Du'Vonta Lampkin and Dwayne Orso who may or may not contribute are in the mix, if they're still around.
These seven players are POTENTIAL contributors. I'm not pulling a "Bullmarket" and declaring stardom for every player on the roster, but these seven are in addition to established players like Walker, Wade, Romar, Dimon, Roberts and Ward. All I'm saying is maybe there's strength in numbers here that could be a factor in solidifying the DL.
But clearly, at least one big time defensive lineman is crucial for the 2016 class.

It's at Linebacker that OU is struggling. Some blame it on being in the Big 12, some on Kish, some on M. Stoops scheme. But LB is hurting in a major way and OU is going to need a huge shot in the arm.

You are right about our depth, plenty of guys from last years class that need to perform, Gallimore and Overton were highly recruited and hopefully they pan out.

In my opinion we should concentrate more of our recruiting in Texas like we used to do. This nationwide recruiting plan looks good on paper, but hasn't resulted in great recruiting classes the last few years. Start getting the best out of Texas and fill in the other spots with kids from California and Florida.

Great post. I'd rather use the scholarship on a different position. I just hope it's not a desperate offer to a 2* linebacker or something to fill out the class. Somewhere out there, there's a kid that wants to go to OU that hasn't been offered and will likely be a college stud somewhere. Hopefully the coaches find him and offer him.

Well..hate to break bad news, but that's kinda exactly what's happened. OU has given out 2 offers to 2* JUCO LBs. Though I think it's more of a reaction to the developments with Kelly than it is Daniels decommitting.

That sucks. So we throw scholarships at guys that will never play barring significant injuries.

Clearly we need to pay more...switch to the fancier imported cars as opposed to the clunky domestics.:D

I think OSU had it right with the little whore squad they put on the ledger. At 18, I think I'd be more swayed by a horde of concubines more than a shiny deathtrap. In fact at 38, I would definitely be more swayed by room full of "professionals" than a vehicle.

Oklahoma CB commit Parrish Cobb will officially visit Texas this weekend too
Yep and hence the worry that he may get flipped just like Daniels did. Cobb has been committed since last summer. So no doubt there is reason for concern if the kid wants to line up another official visit this late in the game. Rumor mill is he may visit Baylor next weekend as well.

That'd be kinda silly of him. We have an open spot at CB unless Mbansor can get it together this offseason.

DT is not a critical need at this time for OU.
Daniels' loss is disappointing, but the Sooners best option now may be to focus on DT help next year and address more pressing needs this year.....like linebackers, receivers, defensive ends and defensive backs.

Lose Chris Daniels, gain DE Amani Bledsoe out of Kansas. Not sure if it's a break even, gain or loss. I suppose we will know in a few years.

Bledsoe was an all star game stand out and committed to OU today. I don't know how much better he is than Daniels, but he's at least as good. So it wasn't a great day, but it wasn't too bad either.

Daniels is an inside guy if I'm correct. Bledsoe on the outside. Correct me if I'm wrong. I read where we have 7 inside tackles on the roster. I think Maurice Overton will be a major star before he's through. We saw some of it in spot duty this year.

BTW, There's a 4 star DT committed to Arkansas that's visiting OU the next couple of weeks. Maybe we can flip him..........

In our own inimitable way, we're getting almost as many looks than the upper crust, Bama, Clemson, et al.
I expect a very active fax machine in Norman on signing day and more than one pleasant surprise.
I say that because it happens almost every year.

See Joe Mixon.:D
