Looking at the roster today as myself and @dmackey13 get back in the proverbial saddle to gear up for this year, it is telling at just how bad all the depth is at that position, save X Rob.
At this point, it is apparent that Murray is not going to provide the coaching that will transform someone into a different level of player.
Each season, his RB’s have looked unprepared in almost every facet. It’s just an objective fact when you compare it to other positions.
I think that OU can have a solid year with this position but without massive improvement from an additional player besides X Rob, it is just hard to imagine this being a strength.
However, one of the saving graces and glass half full thoughts is…
If Arbuckle is able to layout a framework for which he wants his RB’s to operate and Murray buys in to coach in this specific way, there could be a marked change in performance. In other words, Arbuckle saying, here is what I want out of my backs and I need you to do “x, y, x” with them to get them there. “In fact, Murray, here are some drills/practice strategies we deployed at other places to help with development.”
Hopefully the latter is the case of the Sooner RB room.
