Have you had the opportunity to get a feel for how the new “cut throat” model employed by Nagy will effect recruiting and the money spent on getting new recruits in?
I get the idear of not jumping into bidding wars at certain positions (RB for one), but with this “money paid vs production” philosophy, will we be able to recruit the necessary players to build a foundation? If the Hatton recruitment can be used as an example (and I don’t know for sure that is, it’s just what we currently have to go on), other teams are not budgeting this way at present (forward-thinking to “salary caps” and such. Is there any concern inside the Switzer Center that other teams may be right and there won’t actually be restrictions and we’re just cutting off our nose to spite our face?
Also…is there any indication (I know you can’t name names) that players will be available in the Spring Portal that will be better than the guys you’re saying we’ll be letting go? I’m hoping Nagy is that far ahead of the curve, but he hasn’t been here that long.
