While retirement is a long ways off for me, I'm already regretting selling my Texas home last year.

With the cheapest home in the worst area of Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley being $500k+, I don't know if home ownership will ever be on my radar out here. Even a 700-800sqft condo in a decent part of the Valley is $700k+.
Talk about the middle class getting pinched.

I'm already considering buying back into the Texas housing market and letting renters pay my mortgage until it's time for retirement.

Truth be known, I would live in Connecticut the rest of my life if it wasn't so expensive (taxes) to live here. I have all my favorite places nearby (Maine, Gettysburg, NYC, Cooperstown). I would prefer living in the Hill Country of Texas as Houston is too overwhelming to get around in, although Cypress Texas (25 miles NW of Houston) seems nice.
