NORMAN — Oklahoma senior pitcher Paige Parker was named one of four finalists for the 2018 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, USA Softball announced Wednesday.

Parker joins Florida’s Kelly Barnhill and Amanda Lorenz and UCLA’s Rachel Garcia as this year’s finalists for the award, which is considered the most prestigious honor in NCAA Division I softball.

Parker has been one of the most dominant pitchers in college softball over the past four years, named an All-American three times and the Big 12 Pitcher of the Year four times. She has held opponents under .200 at the plate (.170 in 2015; .194 in 2016; .179 in 2017) while recording an ERA below 1.70 (1.65 in 2015; 1.64 in 2016; 1.43 in 2017) over the last three years. Parker is on pace for her best statistical season yet, currently holding a .154 opponent batting average and a 0.89 ERA.

Her 0.89 ERA this season ranks fourth nationally. Parker is 28-2 and holds 120 career wins, ranking second in program history and leading all active Division I pitchers.

The Independence, Mo., native has one no-hitter, five shutouts and seven complete games this season. She has totaled 179 strikeouts, averaging 8.02 strikeouts per seven innings pitched, to bring her career total to 934 Ks.

Parker has garnered multiple national accolades this season, named the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Week on April 3 and the NFCA Pitcher of the Week on May 8. Additionally, she was tabbed Big 12 Pitcher of the Week three times this season (March 19, April 2, May 7) to bring her total career weekly awards to 19, second most in Big 12 history.

The 2018 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be revealed May 29.

Oklahoma alumna Keilani Ricketts was a two-time recipient of the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award.

Parker and the Sooners return to action this weekend as they host No. 13 seed Arkansas in the NCAA Norman Super Regional.

Parker is rare talent looking over her list of accomplishments. Would be nice to see her finish her Senior year a winner!
