Oklahoma ranks 13th nationally in returning defensive production this season.
All five starting defensive backs and three defensive linemen return are in this mix.
Of the 5 DB's, only Motley is a senior.
The 3 defensive linemen, Gallimore, Overton and Faamatau are seniors.

So you are saying we have a chance?

I am aware that given the issues OU has had defensively, whatever talent remains from last season may not be much to hang your hat on.
I found it mildly interesting, but depth is really a key issue.

The one starter that is not returning IMO is more important than the collective group of starters that are... Mike Stoops.

This defense may not post up any better glaring stats , numbers, or rankings, but it will be a completely different defense. I'm really excited to see it in action as I'm under the impression that it's an attacking styler defense. Is this correct?

Hoping everyone of last year's defensive starters will have to earn their positions in 2019. Especially at mlb and at cb. Draper needs to be given an opportunity not afforded by the prior coaching staff.

I hope the injuries don’t derail Levi’s chance to start. He has talent and should be given every opportunity to shine as an in-state guy. I do like the aggressive ball hawk mentality going forward. The Big 12 is not exactly an offensive super power this fall. A good year for the guys to get a foothold in the new system Grinch is putting to action.

Draper, White, Bonitto, Asamoah, Jones, Terry and true freshman Jonathan Perkins are in the LB corps with seniors Kelly and Jackson so I believe at least 3 to 4 need to come through as significant performers this season.
Mead (redshirt junior) and Jones (redshirt sophomore) have been adequate.
So on paper, there are numbers (nine) at the LB position....and Riley has shown he likes to get his younger (or backup) players on the field asap.
What Grinch, Odom and McNeil do to elevate the LB position will be interesting....and I hope fun...to watch.
