Tennessee football coach Josh Heupel and assistants get raises, contract extensions
Tennessee football coach Josh Heupel received a raise to a guaranteed annual salary of $5 million and a contract extension through 2028, Knox News confirmed Friday.
Heupel's original deal was for $4 million annually and ran through Jan. 31, 2027. The new terms add one year and $1 million annually to his guaranteed pay, and his bonus structure remains the same. Heupel's assistant coaches also received raises and one-year extensions.
In their first season, Heupel and his staff guided the Vols to a 7-6 record in 2021. Tennessee has a 2-0 record this season and is ranked No. 16 in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll.

News broke on Friday that coach Josh Heupel has kicked two Tennessee Volunteers football players off of the team.
Adam Sparks of the Knoxville News Sentinel reported that linebacker William Mohan and offensive lineman Savion Herring have both been dismissed from the Volunteers.
Both were recently arrested on domestic assault charges.
