Still not making any sense there big fella. Do I view them being very different as far as my sympathy for their mental illness? Yup I damn sure do. Do I have sympathy for someone that murders and rapes someone domestically or does something completely unethical in the line of duty? Nope. I was happy as hell those morons from Abu Graib were prosecuted to hell and gone. It's funny how you and the inmate sympathizers are trying to sound smart while completely flipping an argument inside out to prove a non-existent point.
Again, since I have to spell it out with crayon here, I have sympathy for vets for their mental illness. I do not have sympathy for some woman beater and repeat felon trying to use the "my poor childhood" excuse. If you're anti-military and you think those are similar, or as it sounded, like you think military is worse since "they chose" to do what they do. Im still waiting for someone to show me where LP was so mentally ill that he didn't know right from wrong.
Unlike probably most here, I actually do a ton of work with inner city youth. I've been a "big brother" just about every chance I've gotten when I've had the time and money since I was in my early 20's. I donate time every couple of weeks to run a first tee program here in Houston that is designed specifically for inner city youth and the much less fortunate... many of those living in group homes. I don't have much, but I give what I can (time) and do what I can. I see these kids making amazing choices and refusing to let things get them down.
As for the question above, if the kid doesn't know right from wrong then you need to get them some very serious help. If he is that mentally challenged, then he needs to be taken care of by professionals.
