OT: I just watched the 75th Birthday for John Lennon Concert and

through the aid of Google was reminded that the first Global televised song, All You Need Is Love was on my 11th birthday, which was pretty remarkable given that my parents were not into that kind of music (of course).

I remember watching them on Sullivan. Very distinctly remember the day John was killed. And I paid $150 to watch Mcartney, it was almost a religious experience through my childhood. I'd have paid 10 times that much.

"Sir Paul" is getting pretty long in the tooth looking. At least Ringo performed a song.
I guess my folks appreciated the magnitude of what the British invasion was about as I too remember watching the Sullivan performances (in b & w of course) and then seeing them at home in 67. Yoko was as looney as ever, imho of course. I was a bit surprised that Clapton wasn't part of the event.

I think it was the Pats vs the Dolphins on a Monday night game.

Howard Cochell interrupted the game pbp to announce the death of Lennon. I had no clue who he was at the time. 1980 man where does time go?

Lost all respect for John when he said his first son Julian was an unplanned child born out of a whiskey bottle. What a douche. He also left him no money in his will.

I won't dispute that 67; there was too much of that going on from then to today. He was lucky to make it to 40 and was just starting to contribute again to his craft. No one knows if he would have done right by Julian but he wasn't expecting a bullet. I like to think that he would have.

He may have been a douche, but the guy made some of the most remarkable and influential music ever written and turned the world on its ear. Thank you John Lennon for your contribution to not only music, but for changing our world, in many ways for the better.

Not for me but to each his own.
