I have a nine year old Tennessee Walker mare. Although she has a kind of hair flippin' cheerleader look to her, she reminds me more of a fifth grade boy in behavior. When I go catch her in the pasture, as I walk her in to the stable, she is constantly trying to bump me into a horse pile or a mud puddle. When I clean her hooves, she will bend her neck and bump me in the butt with her nose. She grins real big when she does that.
Today as I worked on her right rear hoof, she hit me with a "brown note", when I responded verbally, she shook her entire body; she damn near fell down. I know she held it until she knew that I was in position!
It has been three days since I last rode her, and she had to make sure that I was made aware of her displeasure. Everything that we worked on last week was completely forgotten....except the part about want carrots after our ride.
Well, at least I have plenty to do when it's not football season!
