Died yesterday. He was the last remaining member of the original Lynyrd Skynyrd. That means something to us old timers that saw them become rock stars.
I knew Steve and Cassie Gaines. I saw them play for the last time with Ace Moreland at the Gay Parita in Columbus, Kansas on New Years Eve of 1975. Cassie had just become a member of Skynyrd and Steve would join in 1976. The rest is history.
