Today is the day of joyment. Prophet Abraham had a vision that he was supposed to kill his son and he almost did if not for God changing his son for a sheep at the last moment. He passed his test with flying colors.
So now we celebrate Eid by chopping up some goats, cows, camels, etc. 1/3 of the meat goes to the poor, 1/3 to the needy family members and you keep the other 1/3.
