I've seen it a couple of times the past week on this site. I use Google Chrome in Windows 10. I'll be happily reading SoonerScoop then I get a window that says my Flash Player needs updating and to install it from there. Don't do it. It's the Trojan Kovter and it's a bad boy.

For those who may not know.... In Windows, hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and select Task Manager. Highlight your web browser, hit "End Task" and you should be good.

I am a peace loving, law abiding guy. But if I met somebody who writes malware, shitty web pages that trick you into clicks, or scam calls on my cell phone, they'd probably find a body floating face down in the sewage lagoon.

Hear hear...and if I may add, the ransomware turds should be fed to ravenous, rabid jackals.
I've had attempts on me, they didn't land or something.

Not porn sites either. Regular sites you'd go to just what for.

BTW, privacer rocks.

Privazer is really good for cleaning things up. I am a donor to their site, however the free version is excellent too. But the free Windows Defender that comes in every install of Windows is outstanding real time protection. The only problem is that the PC manufacturers make money off of shitty antivirus bloat-ware shipped with each new PC. So you have to go through the BS of uninstalling Norton or whatever, and find instructions on the web on how to activate Windows Defender. But it is well worth the effort. And it's free.

I don't think you can install adobe flash on an iPhone. There's some 3rd party pay apps available. Every once in a while I can't open a video because it requires flash player. I have no idea about a Mac. I'm sure the Mac has more options. I think on iPhone it's a security reason.

Go to your cupboard, take out the largest bowl, look in it. Do you see anything? No. That is the equivalent of my tech knowledge. I appreciate the effort to help me, but I am hopeless.

Speaking of Virus--I get calls from a guy who sounds Middle Eastern
who trys to get me to let him fix my computer. And he calls several times a day. The number he is calling from is restricted. Is this a Scam?

Any time my answering machine notes the call is "Out of the area," "number unknown," "restricted," or any of that crap, I don't answer.

It just might be the FBI.

No, seriously, there are so damn many scam artists out there these days, it's unbelievable. I did, however, do my good deed for the month by sending $500 to that Nigerian prince whose fortune is tied up in court and who needs cash to get it out. Then he'll send me $500,000 in thanks. Can't wait for his check.

Great news. And would be better news if you would step up to the plate and take all of us out for vittles and shine.

I received my check last Tuesday. Can you believe it, my bank notified me that the check was returned insufficient funds this morning. I told the bank to try sending through again.

I have had that pop up on me recently. When I see things like this I quickly exit out of the page tab and totally ignore them. Personally I think the people that do this should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. However it amazes me that these people never seem to get caught even with the most modern technology.

The more I think about these things the more I think its computer and virus companies that hire folks to do it so they can then charge you out the butt to clean it up.
