OL Noah Nelson (Arizona) commits to OU....

So the good news is that there are 6 offensive players on the 2020 commitment list and that 6 of the total of 8 commitments are from Texas.
The not-so-good news, so far, is that only two of the eight are defensive players and they are 3-star defensive backs.

Both those DBs have good shots at 4th star before the final rankings are released and they are prototypical talent/frame for the Grinch/Manning approach.

Your point about defensive recruiting lagging behind is going to be true until Grinch et al. demonstrate we are putting a new defensive product on the field.

The defensive resurrection will take some time.

3 stars or not, they are both over 6 ft tall and around 190++ lbs., and are both very physical at the LOS.
I'm not totally sold on the lack of size being the issue for OU's defensive backs.
Since 2000, OU has done generally well with players that do not meet the 6'-plus/190 lb-plus criterion you mention. Fleming, Hurst, Sanchez, Colvin, Strait and Walker were "small" but they were good and made big plays.
I hope at this time the two DB's in the 2020 class will be solid contributors...whatever their size is.

yes, all those players were good players, but there has been a trend of large WR's the last few years and the undersize guys were/are having issues covering them. Watching these two guys film they are really good at man coverage, hope to see more man defense in the future.
