OC Lebby Confirmed by OU and also Ted Roof DC/LB Coach

The year Auburn won the national championship (2010), they had the #60 total defense in the country. Cam Newton carried them that year.

So you are going on record that Venables has hired a bad DC? Or, you are simply pointing out Roof shouldn’t get any credit for Auburn’s national championship? It’s got to be one or the other.

The fact that Mckinzie flipped back to OU after the Roof hire tells me that whatever BV has in mind, the recruits seem ok with it.

He flipped after BV made the in-home visit. BV worked with Roof all last year, he saw something in him to bring him in as the DC. Be it his coaching style, technique, game planning, recruiting etc.... BV believes in him so we need to as well.

Just for the heck of it I looked up Jon Heacock’s coaching bio, looks like he jumped around quite a bit and nothing on his resume said he was a really good DC but he’s been pretty good at ISU. I’ll say this, I think our fundamentals have been so bad for so long that if we just get that corrected for starters we’ll look night and day on defense. I can’t believe we still hope and pray OU db’s will learn to turn and look for the ball lol

It doesn't have to be one or the other. I'm just posting factual information.

Roof was the defensive coordinator when Auburn won the national championship in 2010. Gene Chizik was the head coach. Gus Malzahn was the offensive coordinator. Cam Newton was the quarterback.

In a year where the rest of the SEC was three yards and a cloud of dust, Auburn led the conference in scoring offense, total offense, rushing offense, pass efficiency, first downs and third down conversions. They were 7th nationally in total offense. They were 60th nationally in total defense, and finished 8th (out of 12 teams) in SEC total defense. Assign credit however you see fit.

As to your first question, nobody can answer whether or not Venables hired a good or bad DC. That remains to be seen.
