NEW PUNTER COMMITS!

Every team needs a good punter, a good place kicker (for extra points, field goals and deep kickoffs), a good return man and good kickoff and punt coverage.....all of which comprise the kicking game.

I think the /sarcasm/ was lost on you.

Not to hijack the thread, but who was the last player-punter we had on the team? Joe Wylie? Anyone handle their regular position and punting since that time?

Another player was WR Tinker Owens......and there were many players during Wilkinson's time.
I remember Lance Rentzel punting from his own end zone in the 1964 Texas game (during Gomer Jones' first year as HC). When he saw all the Texas players running away from him to provide blocks for the punt returner, Rentzel ran to midfield and an OU first down. OU lost 28-7, but that game had a great play by Rentzel and a big time hit by Carl McAdams, stopping Texas short of a first down.
