MT: Weekend vacation ideas in the Northeast

We just moved to New York (45 minutes north of the city) and want to getaway for 2-3 days this weekend. We have kids 4 and 2 so we won't be doing anything too crazy. The wife wants to go to Maine.... Anyone have suggestions? Thankya
