Firstly….. I came up this weekend (Thursday thru Sunday) for a College visit with my son… as a prospective student - The administration and School of Law folks could not have been better or more accommodating nor giving of their time. It gave me a new perspective of that place, and another reason to love it.

Being at the game:

The crowd/atmosphere was the best I’ve seen in a contested game….. impressive and it helps the on field performance.

Sat behind 4 old hand Iowa State alum/former player/fans: “I’ve never seen us fake a punt” (doesn’t excuse it, just FYI) “we’ve gone for more fourth down conversions than I can ever remember” “Coach really, really wanted this game to build on”. They also commented on the atmosphere, the edginess of both teams, the crowd and the intensity….. just so you have perspective.

CW had players open….. I mean: Jalen Hurts/CeeDee Lamb first four games open. He just either didn’t see them or didn’t pull the trigger.

Point is - it’s not necessarily the play calling as much as execution of called play.

Special Teams are more like Special Olympics Teams…..(not you Matt Turk).

So what ails this offense ?
Is it: Caleb being out foxed by Arranda and Heacock ?
Is it: Run game inefficiency … RB and OL ?
Is it: Dropped passes ?
Is it: Loss of Bridges, Wease, McGowan and, I believe most importantly Mikey Henderson ?

Is it rhythm… and the confidence that goes with rhythm (2nd half v Texas, Texas Tech)..?

I’d say it’s all of those things. And at different times ….. and with a Freshman QB and only 2 RB for 3/4 of the season limiting play calling (Mikey H. again).

Is pass interference or holding by the offensive line not a penalty anymore ….. and it’s just nobody told me ?

DeShaun White played his best game as a Sooner yesterday….. fast, downhill, no hesitation, he ran his feet TO and THRU contact and tackled well…. David U. on the other hand -

Defensive Line played like hungry dogs after a bone yesterday.

I dislike that the secondary allows comeback routes as uncontested as they do…. no drive on the ball: Derrick Straight, Zach Sanchez….

Winning close games beats the hell out of losing close games… ask Matt Campbell and all those returning players they have.

I believe OU win next week vs Oklahoma State:
1). Spencer Sanders would like to give you the ball.
2). The Cowboys defense is not coordinated by Dave Arranda or Jon Heacock.
3). Mike Gundy will coach not to lose….. they’re won’t be any going for it on 4th down etc.

This season admittedly has been difficult as a fan….. the entire season has been very strange and it’s hard to qualify why that is.

But close out the season with a Win.

Win the conference in two weeks.

And close out recruiting STRONG.
