This dude is legit. I realize Cincinnati has not played anyone exciting and we're 6 games in to the season, but check out some of these stats from 2017 compared to thus far in 2018.
*For reference, his first year as DC was 2017, now in his second year*
Cincinnati Defense: 2017 -> Thus far in 2018
Points Per Game Allowed: 33.5 (101st) to 15.0 (3rd)
Yards Per Play Allowed: 6.0 (90th) to 4.2 (5th)
Points Per Play Allowed: .454 (101st) to .217 (3rd)
Red Zone Scoring %: 87.5% (98th) to 76.9% (34th)
3rd Down Conversion %: 46% (113th) to 31.6% (19th)
***This does not include their 63-7 win over Alabama A&M as they are an FCS team***
God awful defense last year, one of the best in the nation (so far) this year.
Outside the numbers Freeman is just 32 years old (younger than Lincoln), won 2 National Championships as a player with Ohio State (knows what it takes to win), and is not too bad of a recruiter from what I read.
May not be the hottest name out there, but we need to find the guy to ride with Lincoln for the next 10 years. I think he's a great potential DC hire.
