Louisiana linebacker commits to OU....

I don't pay much attention to stars. I pay attention to who else offered. In this case, no other high profile program made him an offer. A little early in the process to start "settling".

What the Football Brainiacs posted.

As for what OU is getting in Cooper, our guy JY had this to say:

*** Love his film.

*** Play recognition is second to none, and it makes him look and play extremely fast.

*** He’s a very long kid who is very underrated.

*** Probably because of his weight which will undoubtedly improve, this kid could be a 220 lb tackling machine.

*** This is a huge pull by Odom.

Ford, Evans and Samia were all 4-star players according to Rivals.
Ford was not that highly recruited, with only OU, LSU, Arkansas and Houston as the only "name brand" schools interested....again, according to Rivals.
IMO, star ratings, interested schools, sizes of players and the evaluations of recruiting services or so-called experts are too often irrelevant in the long run. While such things can give an overview of a player, I can't treat them as 100% accurate.

more than likely redshirt his freshman yr. No doubt he will get bigger, hopefully in that 225-235 range, hopefully he can still play with at the speed he plays now carrying that extra weight. If he can do that he be a great middle linebacker. His instincts and play recognition are really good for a junior in high school.

With Kelly, Murray (who may go pro) and Jackson leaving after this season, Cooper and any other freshmen linebacker may have to play immediately in 2020.
Grinch has a lot of work to do now and into next year.

Ha! The wife’s hometown. It’ll be fun to watch him but the SEC and defenses are synonymous. But I need to research who has offered him & who hasn’t before I pass judgement, but you can bet our household will be hoping the kid comes through w a good collegiate career.

Louisiana Tech, Louisville, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State and Southern Miss were listed as some of his pursuers.

My guess is Riley wants to open up the pipeline in Louisiana. Lot of good players come out of that state.
3-star Ogbonnia Okoronkwo in 2013 was targeted by Purdue, Kansas, SMU , Texas Tech, OSU, San Diego State.
3-star Curtis Bolton in 2014 was targeted by Fresno State, Arizona, Colorado, Iowa State.

Grinch's first year recruiting isn't going as planned. He's having a tough time. His defense will need to show up to turn the page. I hope his players buy into the defense play calling, technique, and style. I think they do.
